Just wanna show the possibility of there being a DOWNSIDE of this trade. Bosh has to bring some HEART and GRIT with him or else I don't think it will work. Rocket River
i like how u say we have to look beyond the stats yet you show a comparison of the two using only stats LOL
QUESTION: Look at Shareef's stats his 1st years in the league . . .would you want that on your team??? H*LLS YEAH!!! - It looks all world!!!! but the reality is . . . . they didn't mean much to his team's success Rocket River
You could also put P. Gasol's #s up there and they'd be quite similar. Its amazing when a player goes to a team worth a damn and how they all of a sudden become a winner.
I'm trying to think of any big man that has had big time success without consistent wing players in today's game
Im sorry but Shareef isnt in Boshs league, nor are his stats. By his 3rd year Bosh had demonstrated a level of play that even a PEAK Shareef couldnt replicate. And if you think Bosh if a bad defender (IF cuz I think hes got great potential) then Shareef was even worse. That said Shareef wasnt a bad player, the whole his stats didnt contribute to winning is overused. Im pretty sure there were alot of reason why that team didnt win.
Those numbers are scarily similar terrible comparison considering Gasol was lead a WORSE Grizz team to the playoffs 3 times in the WEST and won 50 games in a season at some point.
The reason OP showed the stats is to illustrate the fact that sometimes stats does not tell the story.
there has to be something said about bosh not getting the playoffs much less not having a winning record in toronto thise year. i mean he plays in the weaker eastern conference and our rockets team without a single star with the talent of bosh managed a winning record in the west... i do question whether he has the heart or the grit to win... but if we keep guys like scola, as a team, we may still have that grit
Take another look at that FGP column. Yes there are quite a few things to examine beyond stats but we can atleast start there. Shareef Abdur-Rahim wasn't *cringe* efficient enough to be a star big man. Bosh is no Shaq but he scores at a much better rate.
I guess I'm the only who felt that SAR actually was a star player in his younger days. He dropped off dramatically later in Portland and Sacramento(not sure of the reasons). But the guy was a beast on the Grizzlies. And if he were available this offseason, I'd take him as our starting PF no question. SAR was almost as good as Bosh IMO. Worse team than what? Who has SAR and Bosh played with that were superior to the following group in their primes: Battier, Bonzi, White Chocolate, Posey, Mike Miller, and Swift?
I don't care about who's team stunk for X number of years. Take a look at somebody like Zach Randolph. He's an EXTREME example of the whole idiot blackhole label and even he was able to change his game for the better and find success. Jamal Crawford is another example. Those are extreme examples -- there's plenty of other examples of good, smart "stars" that can't seem to find success in the W/L column consistently. Elton Brand is a great example. As it stands right now, he's one of the biggest losers in the NBA yet you don't look at his game and persona and think "Okay, this makes perfect sense". Unless you're a polarizing basketball figure like an Allen Iverson type, players like a Brand (pre-injury), SAR or Bosh type could absolutely be added to the right mix and potentially put that team over the top. Need I remind anyone of Pau Gasol's path to success?
