I keep seeing chatter from a certain camp concerning Yao and how this BBS may react if he is physically limited in the '10-'11 season. Wanted to toss up a poll to gauge everyone's thoughts on the subject.

He should be very effective for the minutes(20-25min?) that he will play next year. Yao's play style depend on his size and skill, so injury/surgery should affect his game. He doesn't have much the speed or athleticism to lose.

He will help us on both end of the floor, and we will be top 5 team in the west next year.

it's a pretty vague poll/question. Not returning to all-star form could mean anything from playign handicapped all the time and barely producing to averaging 15pts, 8 rebs, and 1 block.

Pretend he has a tough time getting up and down, struggles on defense, and only averages 14 and 7

If he is unable to go and keeping in mind what I saw last night against the Bulls, then i think we are in a very difficult position. Morey should make several off season trades, a starting Playmaking Point Guard, a Back Up athletic Center. Time we got over Midget mania! :p

If twolves get the no.1 pick this summer, They might draft Wall. I think we can go after Rubio.

No one of options is very good on the poll. What kind of form you are implying for? I would think he can still play 20-25 min at a good level, if he can only play for 8 min, he could retire, and then the team does not need resign him anymore.

As long as he isn't trying to impose his will with one foot or b****ing about playing time when he cant outplay David Anderson, I'm cool.

What the hell is this crap? I'm so tired of people makes threads just to make threads. This is 100% fail. Why wouldn't he be able to return to star form? Its not like he now has a prosthetic foot. Yao's numbers will remain pretty much exactly the same. I expect a very slight decrease in points and rebounds due to (hopefully) a decrease in a minute or two a game. That is it.

    Yao will return to form.

How many foot surgeries has he had before? He knows how to come back from 'em. This one just took a bit more recuperating than usual.

    Sure...till the next one..... :(

This past generation of Rockets are just injuries waiting to happen. I'm loving all the new younger guys we are getting now.

if yao had a decline similar to Z, he'll still big a great asset and make this team much better.

if yao was to fully return to superstar form, this team will compete for a top 3 seed like we did with artest.

For those suggesting that this thread is declaring that Yao is done and can't return the form....that's not the case at all.

    It's a hypothetical.

My opinions wouldn't change, however, for the right deal I could let him go.

And btw, I failed, I thought the poll said "I wouldn't boo him" :(

Things that make Yao a star:

    - he's taller than the empire state building
    - he can shoot the lights out
    - he's got mad post moves

Reasons why Yao will still be a star:

    - he's not getting any shorter
    - we saw him make 93/100 free throws with a cast on his food
    - nobody has more discipline than him so he will do whatever it takes to regain his old moves

Even if none of this were true, he's such a stand up guy that I'll still root for him no matter what.

Yao is what he is, the Rockets will never get rid of him because of the huge market$ that he draws, he is a great teammate but definitely needs his minutes restricted nxt year, our focus needs to be on a killer, we gotta get a killer to become legit title contenders, we can do it!
