The idea of this thread is to build a "Bullard to Drexler" translator, and vice versa, in which they both make a call, saying something generally inane and obvious, but in their own individual way

See the following true life example:

    Fast forward to 1:48

    How Bullard says it:

" You know what, now Carroll Dawson, who was the General Manager for the Rockets when I was playing, and is still a consultant with the Rockets, he would call this right here an "NBA rebound"

    How Clyde would say it:

"Now that's what I call GETTING the REBOUND!! Heh heh heh"

    Ha, nice thread.

Bill - And (so and so) takes 5 steps but no whistle as he misses the layup. You're not allowed to do that in the NBA!

Bullard - "How can the refs not call that? These guys are terrible!"

Clyde - "He he he, ya think?"

To throw a 3rd wrinkle, try to translate into what Calvin Murphy would say in conjunction with Matt and Clyde.

Like the above example in the 1st post

    How Calvin would say it:

"Now that's getting a rebound with some ATTITUDE! Jordan Hill found himself a cookie!"

Bill: Budinger takes it in, and scores the lay up.

    Bull: HEY BUD! LET'S PARTY!

Clyde: Eh, he, he. I ate chicken last night.

Bill Worrell: Magnificent entry pass by Lowry to Budinger for the jam!

Bill would reply: Budinger showing why he has the skill set to become a starter someday.

Clyde would reply: Now that is a... 2 point dunk!

Bull: "Bad call, horrible flop on that play. Wish the refs would stop calling that."

Clyde: "He flopped. But that's just a part of the game Bill."

Bill: Oh! John Hill with yet another putback slam! How about that young man...

Bull: I tell ya, Bill. I really like John Hill's game, the more I see of him-uh-out there on t-the court, the more I like.

Clyde: That's what you call...going after the ball, Bill! Heh heh heh. Could be a dark horse for the all-star game...

Bill: An impressive block by Hill from the weakside, he's doing a little bit of everything tonight.

Bull: Something the Rockets have been without for a long time, Bill. A good shot-blocking big man from the weakside.

Clyde: Nawt in mahy HOWZ! ..heh heh heh.

That's exactly what Calvin would say. I miss him more and more when listening to Bullard and Clyde.

I think the art of the Bullard quote is to throw in extraneous details and clauses that have very little to do with your narrative.

    [Kevin Martin makes a jumper]

Bill: and Martin hits another one, boy he has a nice jump shot doesn't he?

    How Bullard would respond:

Bullard: Yeah he does, You know, on that last one by Martin, that shooting stroke reminds me of a guy, once a great scorer with Golden State and these Rockets and the father of many NBA players, almost his own family dynasty -- including a couple of former Rockets Brent and Jon, one of whom used to occupy my chair, now he's with ESPN Jon is -- anyway their dad Rick Barry. He looked like Rick Barry on that play Bill!

    How Clyde would respond:

CLyde: "NOTHING but NET! He DOES have a great shooting stroke!"
