there's a few. for example: the nickname for Zack Randolph is "Rotten Tofu", in Chinese it exactly sounds like that.

    Z. Randolph has been a popular laughstock in Chinese basketball forums. half because he did look stupid in some past games, half because in China there's a famous basketball column writter who hates Z. Randolph with a passion, blackmouthing him repeatedly with utter contempt. In recent weeks, this writter became target of many fan jokes, 'coz Zack is red hot:)

In the US, you can't talk about race, but it still matters to a lot of people for some reason. Most other places I have lived in the world, people talk about race all of the time, but it really doesn't matter.

    Likewise.

I actually didn't know that many Chinese followed basketball in general, although I did know that the Rockets were popular as a team due to Yao Ming. I had no idea that they had nicknames though; this is incredibly cool.

I wish now that I could hear the nicknames pronounced correctly, as I like how Chinese sounds; especially when females speak it, it sounds very singsong and melodic - to my ears at least.

    Thanks again, OP!

I hear Bosh loves this nickname so much that he wants to have it registered so no one else can take it.
