Just fyi a commonly used Chinese staller is "nay gar", i thought people were calling me ****** when i first heard it :grin:

there's a few. for example: the nickname for Zack Randolph is "Rotten Tofu", in Chinese it exactly sounds like that.

Randolph has been a popular laughstock in Chinese basketball forums. half because he did look stupid in some past games, half because in China there's a famous basketball column writter who hates Z. Randolph with a passion, blackmouthing him repeatedly with utter contempt. In recent weeks, this writter became target of many fan jokes, 'coz Zack is red hot

In the US, you can't talk about race, but it still matters to a lot of people for some reason. Most other places I have lived in the world, people talk about race all of the time, but it really doesn't matter.

I actually didn't know that many Chinese followed basketball in general, although I did know that the Rockets were popular as a team due to Yao Ming. I had no idea that they had nicknames though; this is incredibly cool.

I wish now that I could hear the nicknames pronounced correctly, as I like how Chinese sounds; especially when females speak it, it sounds very singsong and melodic - to my ears at least.
