via the Weekly Standard : -- Joe Biden in Virginia yesterday: "To those who say that our economic decisions 'have not produced jobs, have not produced prosperity, and simply have not worked' I say, take a look around." Joe Pounder on Virginia today: A day after the Vice President touted the success of the stimulus in Richmond, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that Virginia lost 22,800 jobs last month and the unemployment rate rose to 7.2 percent.
huh What happened to conservatives using the Dow Jones as an indicator of the country's economic strength vs the status of individual states (that, wow freaking wow, happen to be suffering through a recession right now...SURPRISE)
what does that have to do with Obama not being the ONE WHO KNOWS, PREDICTS AND CONTROLS ALL. jeesh, so the stimulus is off to a slow start; get back to me in two years. or better yet, use your (possibly non-existent?) creative energies and propose a better alternative. I for one think the stimulus was a bad idea, but you're off your rocker if you think it's made things worse...the recession may have been much more uglier. anyways, before I forget. And neither should you. I'll give you that you are making some sense in this topic, so if you run off AGAIN...got nothing to say.

First, why is Todd Palin standing behind Obama? Second, every article I read had the stimulus taking effect over two years. here's an article from before the inauguration that mentions the two year period several times. I remember him pressing to get the bill passed because it takes time to start up projects and I remember a distinct focus on shovel-ready projects to try and shorten that time. I also remember a emphasis on transparancy and accountability. I also know that a huge amount of stimulus money is going to be spent between now and the end of August in bunch of Fed agencies that I work with on a regular basis. My guess is that these video clips are missing some context or are rhetorical efforts used to prod Congress along. Obama and the Obama team routinely said 2 years when selling the bill. I guess if they'd have just said the stimulus will pay for itself and people will welcome us as liberators then he wouldn't be getting this criticism from the wingnuts.
