As we all have been accustomed to for the past decade and change, whenever there are "news" in the Rockets organization, 9 out of 10 times its "BAD". Where do you think this trend started? I remember our team being mostly blessed during the dream years, but now-a-days it seems like that was an eternity ago. Seems like these days we just cant catch a break. Personally I think its a mixture of two things: 1. The acquisition of Charles Barkley. I think Barkley has been a curse to the city of Houston throughout his career till this day. We also broke up a part of the Rocket team that won us back to back championships (Horry and Sam). 2. Changing the logo and uniform, the ones that looked like freakin PJ's. What were they thinking? Why do you change something that works? What do you guys think?
Just reading your thread title, two words came to mind: Charles Barkley. I know it's not fair but it is all I can think of...
I been saying it for a while....the curse of Keith Jones!!! He came after the Rockets won 2 straight championships, when Barkley was traded here.
Wow. Wow. I mean I'm superstitious but still. Sometimes crap happens. I think when tragedy happens everybody asks "why me" or tries to find a reason for what goes wrong. Sometimes there isn't a reason. Crap happens. Trust me, we could be in a worse position: Suns, Clippers, Seatle (not OKC), New York, Dallas... There are tons of teams in a worse shape. We have Tmac as a tradable or even playable element, we have Shane Battier, we have an emerging Aaron Brooks, Carl Landry, Chase Budinger, and so many more players. Hell! Scola is a monster!! There is no answer to why this happened, with that said, its not the end of the world. Right now, I'm more devestated by the loss of Billy Mays more than Yao Ming.
At least Yao is still alive, and there is still a chance he plays next season, but Billy Mays is gone forever. The greatest pitchman to ever live, RIP. I'll vote for the Scottie Pippen acquisition...
Answer: Drafting a 7'6, 300+ lb center then trading for an injury-prone wing and forming the foundation of your team with those two players.

I wrote down my theory on this topic, in some detail, months ago: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=162564 It's unfortunate that Yao had to go down with the season not yet completed, and with Artest's contract -- acquired, albeit indirectly, via our trade for Juwan Howard -- still intact.
trading hakeem away.. maybe if we trade yao to the raptors for bosh we can undo the curse in reality though i think its the training staff and having 2 glass stars
