2010 Sprite Slam Dunk Contest

Hm, interesting... though I do have to wonder how many NBA stars they're going to push out of the competition by doing this.

 

Agreed, I think TFB would do really well at these contests.

Just look at this vid. The first few dunks are so-so, but the last one was pretty flashy.

I've always wanted contestants to do an athletic trick and finish with a good dunk. The only time I've seen it in a real contest was some College All-Stars and someone did a cartwheel dunk.

 

Michael Finley attempted a cartwheel dunk after performing a hideous cartwheel.

 

I remember that and it wasn't a cartwheel.

 

This competition would get dominated by the And 1 basketball team.

 

They need to stop changing up the dunk contest. The fan voting thing was nice, but let's leave the dunk contests to the players. I don't want to watch some random people dunking against NBA players, I tune in to see competition between professional athletes.

 

These "random people" your talking about are probably gonna be AND1/Team Flight Brothers type of guys not some average joe so it might be somewhat entertaining.

theres no way NBA is gonna let some random internet dunkers join the dunk contest. I mean TFB's fame is so youtube based, that most people have no idea who they are....plus, if you really follow TFB's videos(i do), they bash NBA 24/7 saying in almost every discription how crappy NBA dunkers are compared to their crew.

 

This isn't the Dunk Contest; rather, I think it's just a separate event of All-Star weekend where they will have these winners have like an amateur dunk contest. It will probably be during the day and not televised, a la the addition of "H-O-R-S-E" this year.

 

I understand that it won't just be average joes. But to me, the dunk contest is to see who is the best and/or most creative dunker in the NBA. Allowing participants from outside the league defeats the purpose in my eyes.

 

Okay, you're right. This is separate from the actual dunk contest. I don't really have a problem with that.

 

I think the NBA players are gonna have their separate dunk contest and then there is a separate fan dunk contest and then they'll end the night with a funk contest.

 

Just a thought about the NBA trying to add non NBA player in the dunk contest to seem more involved with fans. The NBA should just make a lay and dunk contest just for the fans like they do 3 on 3 in Canada I don't know if they do NBA 3 on 3 in the US.
