I bought a TF1000 on the advice of CFers but it has worn out pretty well and needs replacing.

Does the NBA official leather ball last longer or just have better feel? Also I noticed this ball needed pressure checking almost every week, does the NBA ball do better than that?

Well it all depends, do you play mostly indoor or mostly outdoor?

If you play mostly indoor and you want to pay the money for the official NBA game ball, it's good investment. I have the older version (Before 06) of the ball, bought it to play but then got it signed. It's 99 bucks.. it's a good ball, you don't need to check the levels every week or anything like that. Me personally, I don't really like Nike (sometimes I don't even trust the size of the ball even if it says what it says on the box because I've been jipped before for the size of the ball), but I recommend Huffy or Spalding if you're going to get any kind of indoor basketball. As far as the official ball lasting long, It really depends how much you play with it. Leather is leather, if you over use it, it will wear off eventually, but again I haven't played with the newest game ball too much so I wouldn't know.

If you play mostly outdoor such as I, you should get the NeverFlat from Spalding. I recommend getting the Indoor/Outdoor version of the NeverFlat (which is the one I have, though I have owned both kinds), It works pretty well. It's a great ball, little bit grippy (but that's what I like about it), and it also has that micro technology inside which keeps it from getting flat. I'm not going to sit here and tell you it'll last for 10 years like Spalding says, but if you good outdoor basketball, this is it.

    My TF1000 never touched concrete.

Academy sells the NBA ball for 85 bucks plus tax and the TF1000 is probably around 40 or so now.

Sounds good, it's really worth it if you want a good ball. I can tell you, you won't have to go through checking meters or anything like that again with the official NBA ball. If you don't want to spend the money though, go with that Indoor/Outdoor NeverFlat, it's truly a great ball.

Anyone know about the Rucker Park ball by Spalding? My friend just got a hoop and his cheap ball is pure garbage.
