I don't follow the Raptors so you guys that do might be able to help me out here. We need a center, and we're looking towards the draft to get one. What if we sent KT + our #6 (or #15, although I don't know if 15 would be so appealing) for Keon Clark and maybe a 2nd round pick? Keon's been pretty impressive this year, and is a nice back up for Cato, or potential future starter. I'm not sure how high the Raptors are on him though, but I'm just throwing a name out there. If we can't get an impact player with our 6th pick, why not trade it over and try to land Keon. Of course this might severely hurt the chances of landing Rashard or Odom, but it's still a good deal IMO. Keon's averagining 7.5 boards and 11 points off 49% FG. His free throw averages aren't exactly ideal, but there's always room for improvement. Thoughts?
Raptors are high on him, especially since Olajuwon has been horrible this year. When you have a trio of Olajuwon, Clark, and Montross, Clark really stands out.
I think he's too thin to be effective as a starter in the West. He's only 220, and he's 27(in a couple days). He's a nice backup, but we already have a backup (Cato). We need a starter.
A 2nd rounder + KT + either our lottery or the 15th pick is a lot more than Clark is worth IMO. I would think the Raptors would be all over that. I think we can get a hell of a lot more for all of that than Keon Clark. Not that Clark would be a bad aquisition. I do like the thought of trading some of our excess players plus some draft picks for an established (young) vetaran such as Odom. Maybe something on the lines of Kenny and the 15th pick for Clark and our 2nd and our lottery (providing our lottery isn't the #1 pick in the draft) for Odom. That would give us a line up like this: Clark / Cato / Collier Griffin / MoT Odom / Rice/ TMo Cat / Oscar Steve / Mooche / Tierre Of course two of those would be on IR. I don't know. I'm still not sure that getting rid of KT would be a good thing and I'm still not sold on Clark as a starting center in this league. It would sure be one hell of an athletic line up though.
Keon Clark has played like it's his contract year...oh, wait, that's right, it is...but he has played very well. Unfortunately, his weight. We might as well groom Eddie for the 5 if we're gonna play someone that light (in the West, bulk being especially necessary).
