    Player Efficiency Rating -

    Rafer Alston - 15.00

So for now he's not only an average NBA player, but he is THE consummate average NBA player. For those of you who don't know how PER works, it's a single-number rating of a player curved to the performance of everyone in the NBA. The mean of the rating is calibrated at 15.00, but given the distribution of talent in the NBA, this always means there are more players below 15.00 than above it. So Rafer ain't the median, he's just the definition of average. Officially he's 125th most efficient out of 319 qualified NBA players (averaging 6 minutes per game or more).

    Congrats!

that is a huge accomplishment for him because PER is more offense friendly.

and less Rafer-friendly. He hasn't been this high since his first year with us.
