I live in sugarland. In the last 3 weeks, I've had random acts of violence committed against my lawn. It looks like Joey Dorsey took a hoe to the lawn and dug it up. After research, analysis and thinking -- including looking at the damn tracks like Daniel Boone -- I concluded it's feral hogs. Big fat ones at that, b'c it takes a fair amount of strength to do what they've done.

    Anyone deal with this before?

I deal with them in my neighborhood every so often, but I am probably more rural than you are.

A pack of those things will destroy all your landscaping in a matter of minutes.

Any thoughts on how to deal with them?

Fortunately, I'm pretty sure it's one or two. Or they've only taken a passing fancy to my lawn (ignoring all the lawns right next to me). I"m not sure who else they're terrorizing.

There isn't much you can to do deter them so I would hire someone to trap them or, call your HOA and see if they will act. I wouldn't recommend trying to confront them yourself. They can be pretty ferocious.

BTW, I hear feral hogs are good eating.

Go stand outside in your front lawn with a shot gun and repeat after the fans in this video:

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/p5Fy_BHtv0Y&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/p5Fy_BHtv0Y&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
