Okay, we need to take this board back from all the negativity that flows around on CC.net. Here's one idea, perhaps if we positive posters band together to engage in dialogue. Lately, we just bash the bashers. If we detect a basher, just do a quick response like "you're a basher." Nothing fancy, just enough to point them out for their own benefit and our benefit so we don't bother responding to garbage posts. Nothing inflamitory. The positive folks should keep watch for themselves and call for each other by name. That way we don't need to spend much time reading junk. Generic Guidelines: 1. Criticism is fine if you support it with facts. 2. Limit the use of words like "never." It's not positive and runs rampant in most basher threads. (Example, Cat will never learn) 3. To borrow, "have a take and don't suck" 4. Limit trade talk (and Trade Checker) What do ya think? Feel free post other ideas or augment. Glynch, I like the title of your thread! I think everyone would be more positive if the Rockets were winning. I love the team, and hope this year they explode at the end, and get ready for next year. DaDakota
krosfyah: I hear what you are saying, and I think it is admirable. But all of us get frustrated here even Jeff. I for the longest time felt that I was doing a good job in staying positive, but now I guess some people might think that I'm one of the more negative posters. If that's what they think, then there's no use in getting upset over things that are out of my control. I consider myself to be a realist, and I know you are not going to like this, but Da Dakota and TheFreak have both said things in this forum numerous times that are true about this team. They just didn't sugarcoat things which of course, pisses people off. BTW - I would never say never in trying to remain positive all the time here. I tried it & I couldn't make it work for me. Frustration is fine. But certain posters rarely contribute much (but sometimes they do which is why I don't generally ignore or maybe they learn). I'm not suggesting that people change. I'm suggesting that the posi-posters band together. If a side effect is that the neg-posters stop or change, all the better. Oh, and I'm not getting angry. This is not a bash the basher thread.
When things are positive, say something positive. When things are negative, TELL THE TRUTH! I am a long, long time Rocket Fan, but I am also a huge sports fan. I have played many sports and I have watched many sports. I love sports. I know sports. I know basketball. This particular team is the most frustrating sports team I have ever followed. Not because they are losing, but because of the way they lose. Yes they are young, yes they have had many injuries, yes they havn't jelled, etc, etc. BUT, they are very talented, they play hard, they bring it most nights, THEY ALMOST WIN! They kill themselves with ill-advised passes, no passes, too much dribbling, no defense (mostly guards), bone head turnovers; silly, silly JUNIOR HIGH kind of fundamental mistakes, over and over and over. AND YOU WANT ONLY POSITIVE POSTS!? This team has an all-star, a future all-star, a potential all-star (Mobley), a center who is now putting up very respectable numbers, and a very effective small forward with star potential(K.T.) and a famous Championship coach.
Solid you are a jacka$$. If you don't like the way the Rockets are playing watch another team. That goes for your sidekick DD also.

Solid, very well said. Telling the truth is fine. If folks always expressed themselves that way, we probably woudln't care so much. Many are just tired of hearing the "Mooch sucks" threads. What is more enjoyable is to understand what you don't like about our 3-guard lineup, for example. The only reasons I've heard is that Mooch dribbles too much. Well, that has nothing to do with it cause Mooch will dribble even if we had 5 guards or 1 guard out there. I'm just trying to promote discussion instead of senseless and unsupported bashing. Discussion usually revolves around weaknesses. "Moochie sucks" is not a discussion, however. That's my point.
I think we all want the Rockets to overcome their "quirks" and move on. I bet Rudy does too. Remember, a few weeks ago when Jeff said he couldn't stand to watch them anymore? You must admit, more than most, this team takes you down the road of exasperation. My closest sports memory of something like this was the Warren Moon lead Oilers; so talented, so close, so disappointing. What is different is that this team is not really close to competing at a playoff level and, despite all their problems, I believe they could be.
Well the team that includes francis is 14-13 and that's playoff caliber. That's positive. Another positive is that I should be getting League Pass next year (you can get digital cable at apartments right?) so I can watch when the team is actually getting good with Griffin getting better. Now that's positive. Another positive? No DUI's or drug busts in the last week. See we're making progress here people.
