The jam was nice, but I liked the fact that most of his points came within 15 feet of the basket. This is the type of game he needs to develop...not the three point shot (although it's nice to have).
Good point...I've often complained that I thought he was turning into another Robert Horry. I didn't want him just pitching a tent out by the 3 point line. I hope he develops his inside game as well. My dream is he ends up with a Kevin Garnett type of game...that may be hoping for too much. OS
Old School, I'm thinking more Rasheed Wallace than KG. However, KG or 'Sheed, either way would be just fine with me.
EG appear to be capable of being smoother and silkier than both guys. I was very impressed. The jam appear to have taken very little effort. I would say, given our record, we should go ahead and start him. Why delay? What is the downside?
Almost as nice was that pass underneath to Willis. He's got the tools to really be a star. Maybe we'll see him smile one of these days too.
I missed most of the game, it would have been nice if they would have showed the Eddie block on Shaq on Espn. But i know that'll never happen. I must still be in my dream world
I got to see his block on Kobe. It looked like Kobe was going in for an uncontested jam and then Griff comes in from the side and swats it away.
No kidding. I did record the 1st half and I got to watch the second half, but it's always nice to see the highlights on ESPN, and I figured there would have to be some highlights of Griffin from that amazing game...but sure enough, I turn it on at midnight, right while a new session of ESPN news is starting, and the very first thing they talk about is how Chick Hearn missed his first game in 36 years. So then they jump to the game. I'm expecting to see some early Griffin highlights...nope! Very first play they show is one in the 3rd quarter, with Shaq passing ahead to Kobe for a slam. Then they skip to the 4th quarter to show one more Kobe dunk. Then it's right to the box score, where they talk about Kobe some more, before subtly mentioning Griffin had a career high in both points and rebounds.
Why not? Especially if he continues to play as he has the last few games (if he continues to get minutes). The following guys should make it: PG Jamaal Tinsley PG Tony Parker SG Trenton Hassell SG Jason Richardson SG/SF Joe Johnson SF Richard Jefferson SF Shane Battier SF Pau Gasol C Stephen Hunter C Brendan Haywood That should leave spots for 2 other players...the first thing that stands out is the need for a PF. Gasol will probably start there, but another could surely be used. Griffin's competition for one of those spots should come with other really young rookies that have gotten limited minutes most of the season, like Curry and Chandler, maybe guys like Troy Murphy, Loren Woods. Other guys like Kwame Brown, DeSagana Diop and Rodney White haven't gotten much playing time at all.
I just wish we gave him more post up and mid range chances. He was hitting the shots, but i didn't like it that all he was getting was 3pt shots. He hit them, but the odds are not too good through an entire season for those shots. He rebounded well and was changing and blocking shots which was good to see.
Honestly I have never seen anybody compare even closely to Eddie at this stage of his career......at age 19. AT AGE 19......He is swishing J's with consistency better that a lot of players. The typical high school player usually never gets to develop his shot because why should they do that when they can overpower their oponents by dunkin on them? But Griffin is something else, it just doesn't seem possible for him to have such good touch at this age.
In terms of what? If you're talking about a jumper, then you could be right. However, if you're talking about pure talent and ability at 19 years old, KG and Kobe both had it over EG at this point. EG has shown defensive prowess and rebounding ability, but not much else until the game against the Lakers. If he gets that jumper or scoring going, he can be mentioned in the same breath as a Kobe or KG. A comparison at this stage may be Jermaine O'Neal, although even that may be a stretch.
