American in Taliban: Biological strike on U.S. near

An American Taliban fighter held captive by Marines in Afghanistan has told American officials that al Qaeda's next attack on the United States will take place in days and involve biological weapons, U.S. intelligence officials told The Washington Times.

John Walker Lindh, the Taliban guerrilla captured near Mazar-e-Sharif, said in intelligence debriefings at the U.S. Marine Corps base near Khandahar that "Phase II" of al Qaeda's war against the United States will occur at the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which ends Sunday.

Mr. Lindh told U.S. intelligence officials that the Ramadan attack will involve the use of biological weapons.

A third phase of al Qaeda's war on the United States will result in the destruction of the entire country, the Islamic convert stated.

The officials said they have questioned the credibility of Mr. Lindh's claim because of his relatively low-level position.

Obviously you beef up security, but it sounds to me like Al-Qaeda is getting their collective @sses handed to them so they're trying to scare the American people into pressuring the government into stopping the attacks. They've tried it since the start. All they did was make the governments decision in showing the bin Laden tape easier. I mean look at the guy! He looks like a psycho and a crackhead!

I don't think we've done as well as the media has put on. They weren't a state army, but an occupying militia. Scattering and destroying should have been easy with the help of locals, but when I hear that 500 escaped into Iran and 600 into Pakistan especially when it's 22 of their top leaders...

FBI warns of vague threat against Texas schools

    By CONNIE MABIN
    Associated Press

AUSTIN -- FBI agents have alerted schools throughout Texas that a vague threat has been received suggesting two people may retaliate against unknown Texas schools for the U.S. bombing in Afghanistan.

"Basically, as vague as I gave it, is as vague as we have it," Houston FBI Special Agent Bob Doguim
said Wednesday. "This is coming to us from a foreign government. We are working with them to try and determine the reliability of it."

    It's on cnn.com, somewhere.

Anyway, I don't think it's credible simply for the last part, if no other reason. It's not possible to destroy the U.S. If Russia fired every single nuclear weapon they had, as did China... the U.S. would still retain about 1/3 of its industry and 45% of its population (numbers not exact, but approximate). Very painful... but al Queda ain't Russia.

Exactly how powerful are nuclear bombs these days. I mean what type of radius are we talking where everything would be leveled or at least significantly damaged/contaminated. While I once heard somewhere that we have enough nukes to blow up the world 2.5 times I somehow didn't think the bombs could cover the entire freakin land area of earth 2.5 times. Maybe they were using a certain percentage of damage to consider something destroyed and that allowed for the 2.5 number. However, it does seem strange that all the Russian and Chinese nukes combined could only kill 45% of us. I guess that's good news though that they couldn't completely destroy us.

And I'm certainly not worried that Al Queda could destroy our entire country. Definitely hurt us but not the whole country.

Those numbers are sort of sensationalized. I guess it might be true that if the explosive force was optimized, it might be true. However, that simply isn't possible. Too much energy is wasted, etc, in any release.

A world wide nuclear holocaust simply isn't possible. It would be nasty, and hundreds of millions of people would die, but the doomsday scenarios are innacurate.

    Wasn't questioning you. ;)

This was just my worst fear. I'm one to think that Omar and Bin ladyman are already in Pakistan somewhere.

I've already heard unconfirmed reports that the US has started monitoring al Quaida bases being set up in several other countries.

    Those slimy bastids...

In fourth grade there were alleged gunmen wandering our school. We all had to get against the wall with the lights out under the window to the classroom.

    It was fun.
