ima did a thread recently in which he asked what TV shows had your wife or girlfriend got you liking, so now I ask the music version of this.

For me it is Michael Buble, Josh Groban, and Maroon 5. I already liked Avril Lavigne before I met my wife. :p

My ex-wife had really sophisticated taste in music. I discovered jazz (Monk, Miles, Dizzy, Coltrane, Parker) because of her and TONS of other music I probably would never have heard from Joni Mitchell to Chris Whitley to Steely Dan to Blue Rodeo to Nine Inch Nails.

My girlfriend and I have similar taste in music to a point, but she doesn't listen to as much of it as I do, so it's tough for her to find something I'd like that I haven't already heard, but she did get me to check out Jude and re-discover my love of early U2 stuff. Plus, she was a hard rocker in the 80's like me, so we have that in common.

I stopped listening to music my gf recommended after my wife said, "since when do you like what 20 yr olds are listening to."

    that was a close one!

    Well, let's see....

I love my girlfriend like there's no tomorrow, but I must say.... she has horrible taste in music. I'm talking Barry Manilow, Kenny Rogers, Lionel Richie...you get the point.

She does like a lot of 80's music, which is cool. And she likes Prince. She did turn me on to that Country Legends radio station here in Houston, so I guess that counts for something.

The main thing is that she likes my band and that's the most important thing, so I guess she's a keeper. Plus, I've recently turned her on to Ben Folds Five and The Police, so there may be hope for her yet. We can always work on the Barry Manilow thing...

After around 2.5 years with my now ex-fiancee, I have to say... no one. I mean, I developed a slight appreciation for Air, and that's it.

On the other hand, I turned her on to a bunch of stuff.

    It was a sign! Hahaha.

My wife has better taste in music than most people in the world. She turned me on to a lot of New Zealand music like the Clean, Split Enz and Chris Knox that I was unfamiliar with.
