two is the recommended daily dose. i average about half a bottle of wine a night, w/ dinner, 90% of the time it's red wine, altho on a day like today i've craving a bit of provencal rose...

    Did Benjamin Franklin say-

"Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."

    Or did he say-

"Behold the rain which descends from heaven upon our vineyards; there it enters the roots of the vines, to be changed into wine; a constant proof that God loves us, and loves to see us happy."

    Either one works for me.

Alcohol is not good for you. A glass of red wine a day can prevent coronary artery disease ONLY if you have a completely healthy lifestyle otherwise. Alcohol kills brain cells that not "grow back" and will slowly damage your liver.

obviously you should still live a healthy lifestyle...but red wine has antioxidants which help you independent of your lifestyle otherwise, as i understand it.

Whats the point of having anti-oxidants if alcohol kills brain and liver cell? Might as well eat fruit and vegetables right ;)

Red wine is mildly effective at preventing CAD but ONLY if you don't smoke, exercise daily, and eat a good diet. If you are at risk for CAD and dont live a healthy lifestyle, red wine WILL NOT help you.

It isn't the alcohol in red wine that is beneficial and you can get the same antioxident benefits from grape juice.

Personally, I rarely drink, but I don't think there's anything wrong with drinking. I just know my "tendencies" and I know better than to overindulge with habitual behavior.

LOL no. Look up Wernickes encephalopathy. Alcohol destroys brain cells in the pons area of the brain causing dementia, ataxia, and loss of short term memory. Hence, all the V-Span posters in Garm ;)

I don't know how accurate Wonderquest is, but most research is contrary to what they say. Also, alcohol induced dementia and central pontine myelonlysis is FACT, not fiction.
