Clearing Internet Browsing History COMPLETELY

To absolutely eradicate any data you have on your HD, you want to low-level format and then overwrite. There are security tools out there to do this with.

But for your purposes, you really need to be able to log on as a different user who is an administrator.

If you can do this, this is what you do. Do it at your own risk, but I've done it hundreds of times as detailed without issue:

-Reboot (this is important).
-Log on as the other user (don't log on as you until this is finished).
-Open My Computer or Windows Explorer.
-Go to tools-options
-Go to the View tab, and make sure you have 'Show hidden files and folders' checked.
-Browse to your profile, probably in C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USERNAME
-Open the Cookies folder. Delete everything except the index.dat file
-Open the Local Settings folder and delte the Temp and Temporary internet files folders.
-Log off as the other user, log on as you.

That pretty much does the trick for me.

 

Also depend on how big your company is. The larger the company, the safer you are usually. And most most of the company has a archive period of one to couple years. Unless you do something real bad, they are not going to be digging up the data.

 

yes that is true, almost every company has their employees goto the internet through their proxy which logs every site visited by a particular user.

Piggy-backing onto this topic....how about clearing out stored keyword searches in a search box on Yahoo or Google?

In addition to what's already been suggested (internet options, tools, clear history, delete cookies, etc.):

Right-click an empty area of your taskbar (where the clock and Start Menu are).
Select Properties.
In the Advanced tab, you can clear all the documents and all the history of the sites that Internet Explorer and WINDOWS Explorer have visited. You will also remove the "Run" command's history.
