No it was about the IRS being a sham and talks about how the Federal Reserve is not a governmental agency yet handles all of our money (inflation, interest rates, etc.) Its a whole lot of government conspiracy stuff and how a group of bankers really run the country/world. I tend to take these "documentaries" with a grain of salt. I would just be interested in what others (people who have a whole lot more knowledge than me) have to say about the subject.

    Anyone here a tax attorney?

Me either, even though I'd love to not pay taxes.

Yeah, that doesn't look super legit. I'd like to know from someone that doesn't look like a quack or isn't from the IRS or the Fed.

If you get money back, you won't pay any extra fees to the IRS if you file today or if you file next month.

Even though I'm divorced, and was separated for all of 2006, I had to file as married one more year. Since my ex isn't very happy with me right now, cooperating on a joint return isn't an option. So I couldn't take the Earned Income Credit (might not have been eligible anyway, probably will be next year) or the Lifetime Learning Credit. All that stuff that normally gives us college students a break.

It is none of the government's business whether I'm married or not, whether I was last year or not, especially when it was just a matter of waiting for legal paperwork.

Even if you are married, you do not have to file that way.

If you don't have a child you have to make less than $12,120 (filing as single) in order to get some benefit out of the EIC

You had to pay the IRS a penalty for filing late even though you got a refund or did you have to pay the state a penalty? Some states charge penalties even if you are due a refund, but I have never heard of the IRS charging a penalty if you are due a refund.

Since I spend so much time on here amusing you guys with my useless knowledge of various stuff, I am considering you all dependants on my return.

I'll split the $54 MIL + with all of you when I get my return (and after my 45 year prison sentence).

    Carry on.

I think you would still need to file the automatic extension form. I believe it is Form 4868.
