Don't forget in that series the Aussies had Gilly, Ponting, Clarke, Symonds & Lee out. Thats 5 of the best 11 players.

i play cricket once in while....
those suckisitan are sure out of world cup and what a team ireland is.....they have done well....aussie/south africa/sri lanka seem to be teams that know what they are doing....both india and england have dropped 1 game each to OK teams....india fell at hands of bangladesh, and england fell at hand of new zeland....bangladesh had three youngster who took care of whole india by themselves....they need to sit sehwag out for rest of world cup....and make sure they have harbajan singh and anil kumble play rest of way and insert prathan in....sehwag will cost dravid his captainship...

i used to play when I lived in Australia. I was a mean left arm leg spinner. i think that's what you call them. haven't played in about 6 years.

Pakistan Coach Dies

Stress may have killed Woolmer, says son
Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer may have died as a result of stress brought on by his job, his son Russell says.
Woolmer, 58, died after being found unconscious in his hotel room the morning after his side's shock World Cup exit following its defeat by Ireland at Sabina Park.
"We've been speaking to the doctors and they think it is either stress or a heart attack," Russell Woolmer told South African radio from Cape Town.
"There was a lot of stress in his job and it may have been stress that caused it.
"We're all very shocked and we don't know what to do. I've lost an amazing man to me."
Woolmer was discovered unconscious on the floor of his hotel room and was taken to hospital. Team sources said there was blood on him and vomit in the room.
The Pakistan team confirmed his death shortly afterwards.
"Robert Andrew Woolmer has passed away today and the entire Pakistan team and management are shocked and saddened by his passing," said team spokesman Pervez Mir.
Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, whom Mir described as "totally shocked and bewildered" by the news, later announced his retirement from one-day cricket.
Woolmer, a former England Test batsman, was made coach of Pakistan in June 2004. The job of coaching the national team of the cricket-crazy country is considered one of the most pressurised in the sport.
Woolmer, who had a distinguished career as a coach, appeared to take the defeat by Ireland in his stride following the match, but he did allude to the stresses of the job.
"I would like to sleep on my future as a coach," he said in the post-match news conference.
"It's what I do best, what I try to do best. Therefore I'm not going to throw away coaching just like that.
"However, internationally I will give it some thought. Travelling and being involved non-stop in hotels and so on takes its toll."
His contract with the Pakistan Cricket Board was due to expire on June 30 and he was considered a possible candidate to take over the England team.
Mir said that Woolmer had been 'perfectly fine after the game'.
"I had a very good chat with him and he was thinking about doing a number of things for Pakistan cricket. He had a lot of plans and wanted to go back and speak to the chairman."
Bob Woolmer's death at 58 deprives cricket of one of its most innovative thinkers who became a pioneer in introducing modern technology into a centuries-old game.
Ironically, part of his duties in a previous job had been to help develop the game in countries which did not play the game at elite Test level. One of them was Ireland.
Born in India, Woolmer became one of the world's leading coaches on the back of a solid playing career in English county and Test cricket.
A respected all rounder at first class level who played for Kent and South African provinces Natal and Western Province, Woolmer also played 19 Tests and six one-day internationals for England between 1975 and 1981.
He was one of Wisden's Five Cricketers of the Year in 1976, and he scored three Test centuries at an average of 33.09.
Woolmer bowled medium paced swingers and was an elegant right-handed batsman with a free-flowing, fluent flourish.
But it was as a coach, after his career petered out having joined the Kerry Packer breakaway cricketing revolution during the late 1970s, that Woolmer would leave a far greater mark on the game.
He soon became recognised as one of the more free-thinking coaches, a reputation he earned first with Warwickshire and then confirmed during his five years at the helm of the South African national team.
Woolmer almost single-handedly popularised the reverse sweep and his coaching methods required players to think beyond the accepted boundaries of the game. He was one of the first coaches to take a laptop computer into the dressing room.
His attention to detail was complete. To improve his wicket keepers, for example, he would study the way football goalkeepers moved and pass on his findings.
Warwickshire won three of the four domestic trophies on offer in England in 1994, the same year Woolmer left the county to take up the reins with South Africa.
South Africa were whitewashed 6-0 in their first series with Woolmer as coach, a one-day tournament in Pakistan that also featured Australia.
But by the time Woolmer resigned as South Africa coach after the 1999 World Cup, the team had won 83 of their 117 one-day internationals they played under his guidance -- a winning percentage of 72.80 - and 10 of the 15 Test series they contested.
At the World Cup in England in 1999, Woolmer almost guided his side to the final but a bizarre run-out in the semi with eventual winners Australia robbed his side of victory when the scores were tied.
He said on Saturday that this was the worst moment of his career.
His tenure, though, was marred by a match-fixing scandalwhich led to the life ban of his captain Hansie Cronje.
Woolmer was untainted personally by the episode and, after leaving the post for a second spell at Warwickshire, campaigned for Cronje's reinstatement. Cronje was killed in a plane crash in 2002.
He took over as Pakistan coach in June 2004, one of the most high profile and stressful positions in the international game.
Controversy again followed him in August 2006 when his team were accused and punished for ball-tampering during the fourth and final Test with England at the Oval.
The team refused to take the field on the penultimate day after being docked five runs and became the first country to forfeit a Test match.
His contract with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was due to run until June 2007 but it was widely thought he would not complete it in the wake of the defeat by Ireland on Saturday.
He said in a news conference that the hassles of life as a top international coach had left him questioning his future but Pakistan officials said on Sunday that he was already plotting improvements within his ageing team.
A universally popular, phlegmatic character, Woolmer had made his home in Cape Town. He leaves a wife, Gill, and two sons.

Yeah I saw that on ESPN.com today, that's really unfortunate.

Pakistan was performing poorly, sad to see, and even worse their coach died now.

I'm Pakistani myself and don't appreciate the "suckistan" comments.

I think Woolmer's death was due to foul play (for obvious reasons)... is there poison out there that can cause a heart attack?

What exactly are the chances of India making it?

I have bought my airlines/hotel/match tix for Barbados for the following matches:

India vs. Pakistan (Pakistan is out and India will have a hard time making it)
Australia vs. Pakistan (I could care less about watching Aus whoop up on Irleand)
India vs. England (again)

Because the US cricket association or whoever manages USA cricket was unorganized and basically wasn't doing anything. So the ICC basically told them they can't play cricket until they get their act together.

Cricket doesn't work in the USA, it is too long and boring...but I loved playing it when I lived in the UK.....

I got a couple of centuries batting.....but that ball hurt...

Such a terrible tragedy to see Bob go out like that

The guy would have been under pressure that most of us couldn't even imagine. I could not think of anything worse than coaching either Pakistan or India and seeing the team fail at such a high level.

How was the indian fans attacking Dhoni's home as well

They only play 50 overs, one day matches at the World Cup. I love baseball, but cricket owns it in terms of excitability. Day cricket saved the sport, imo.

btw: have you played the Cricket game released by EA Sports? Its pretty cool. I don't think you can buy it in the USA or Euro though. Only in Australia and Asia a few years back.

If you like cricket games try and get your hands on Brian Lara Cricket 07 or Ricky Ponting Cricket 07 depending on your locaction. The demo has been much better than any of the games in the past.

They have a cricket game? I would love to try it on the 360.....dang....

Cricket was so much fun, we had a cricket club in Machester that I played on.....

I miss it, but no time to take an entire day anymore.

India needs to beat both sri lanka and bermuda (obviously), and more importantly, it has to keep its net run rate really high.

By scoring 413 runs against Bermuda today, India really helped itself. Hopefully, india can keep Bermuda under 150 runs (right now, they are 89/5). The net run rate for India should look decent after this game.

If Bangladesh can beat Sri Lanka in their next match, things should look even better. You would think its a long shot, but weirder things have already happened in this world cup.
