Anyone know why the hell Monday Night Football, as well as all the games on Sunday, primtetime shows such as Friends, etc are NOT broadcasted in 16:9 HD? I am tired of watching the HD demo channel play those highlights over and over again. Nothing ever is on 16:9 HD. CBS had the Final four on 16:9 HD, they have some other programs on 16:9 HD, but nothing ever good is on 16:9 HD damnit! NBC, Fox, and ABC have some crappy form of 4:3 HD, but who the hell cares about that? CBS is the best one and that is not saying much. I want to know why they dont broadcast everything on HD 16:9. I mean whats the point of having HD channels wheh nothing high definition gets broadcasted? Anyone have any answers?
16:9 is a widescreen television. You know the one that looks like a theater screen. HD = high definition. High definition is much MUCH MUCH cleared then regular television.
Then it really isnt HD. It would be Progressive Scan right? Of course you have to have an HD tv to support progressive scan, but then i might be getting a little too picky.
16:9 doesn't mean High Def. 16:9 is the aspect ratio. High def would be anything over 480i so 480P(what fox uses) all the way up to 1080P(which can only be achieved with a scaler at this point). If you have seen true HD then you would want everything to be in HD. The only way to see true HD is to get one of those big ugly ass antennas and put it on your roof. The HD we get from DirecTV and other DBS sattelights have been compressed because they don't have enough bandwidth to send all those channels and HD. But compressed HD is still 100x better than DVD's and thats saying a lot. CBS is the leader in High Def. programming, they did the final 4, AFC Playoffs, Superbowl and some golf tournaments in High Def. Guys if you want to learn about some of this stuff go to AVSForum Before going there I didn't know what the hell was going on.
