If Chris Webber really wanted to be in the Rockets, he should of said so.

Man I read this article again, and I can't believe the guy's arrogance!

Yeah what's his name. Yeah that's right, that Davis guy, who has a winning record in the playoffs, has been to numerous conference finals and has been to the NBA Finals. You know Antonio Davis, the guy who produces in the playoffs and and all.

Why would you care about what Grant Hill says liar? You whined about Houston not pursuing you, and about the Spurs situation, then turns around and says that the only places you visited and wanted to go to was Detroit and Indiana!

What do you mean didn't fall for it, in this same article you practically ADMITTED the articles were true!

 

I liked how he said " I just felt that I could have more of a chance to win other places.", then he says how he thinks Sac has the best chance to beat LA. Huh?

 

I am really sorry for advocating the pursuit of Chris Webber in the off-season. You just don't conduct yourself like that in the media glare. David Robinson can be labelled soft, maybe, but he has two things Webber does not: a championship ring; and, more importantly, class.

He may be a punk, but he's a great player. Outside of Shaq or Duncan he would be the guy I would want leading my team.
We could have possibly had him but instead we tried to re-sign Dream. It may have been a good PR move but probably not a good basketball move. We did get a good deal picking up a couple picks for Dream, but I would rather have had C-Webb-Stevie-Cat than Stevie-Cat-Rice-Mo-T. We could be like most other championship contendors who had a solid nucleous where we could just fill in the other pieces with vets who would play for a discount but who wanted to play for a ring.
Also he is only speaking the truth about the Spurs and D-Rob. Now maybe C-webb didn't have to sday it tot he press, but the Spurs wanted to make a run at signing C-webb, so before you begin criticizing C-webb why don't you all criticize the Spurs for lookin at all there options. They at least took a look at dumping their aging "franchise" player for a slightly younger Franchise player.
I still don't think the Kings have enought to get past the Lakers (barring any injuries) but they are a definite contendor again this year.
Either way we have a decent team this year, but adding C-webb would have made us a top 2-4 team in the west. Now we are still not guarantedda playoff spot and more than likely a 5-8 seed.

 

I agree. The Rockets drafted a 3 and said they were out of the CWebb sweepstakes, which I didn't understand. How can drafting a 3 take you out of the running for a 4?. I think in the back of the minds of the Rockets braintrust, they beleive Griffin is their 4. In the future, I'd rather see Langhi or Morris playing the 3 than Griffin. Can you see him Holding Drik,Marion, and Peja out on the perimeter? I also forgot the likes of Lamar and Lewis, not to mention, McGrady, Carter, Robinson, and the other gifted 3's in the east. It would have been a better compliment with Webber-Griffin than Griffin-Taylor. With all said, with the addition of Jackson, I like our team.

When quoting someone be sure to include the important components as stated above. He didn't want to go anywhere except Detroit or Indiana. The Spurs made the most sense for him, because that put Duncan/Webber against Kobe/Shaq, much better matchup, because Duncan can bring Shaq outside.

Webber was using everyone to get what he wanted. The cheese, dough, paper, cheeder, green backs, etc...

Webber's fault, he did not use an agent to search out potential opportunities to determine what teams thought of him. He kills the Rockets anyway (MoTaylor is his personaly whipping boy), so he doesn't need extra motiviation.

Webber is cocky and knows his value. However, I don't like his defense at all and the Kings will lose because their team doesn't play D.

Webber is a great player, but what an ass of himself he is making.

Nonetheless, I have a hard time believing he didn't have a standing offer with us for the FA max (6/90). My hunch (used to be my conviction before these comments) is that we wanted his 120 mil and to be in a diverse city so that he can be the humanitarian and role model. By his decision you can tell which one was more important to him.

My reading is that we made it very clear we were only willing to have him as a strait FA signing. Once it was obvious this type deal was a no go with Webber (via strait FA) and he got offended we stopped talking to him. At that point there was no reason for us to waste our time because we weren't entertaining trading a good portion of the farm (Mo + Eddie/Cat + fillers) for him.

Let's bring it on Chris!
