Jordan donates his 2-year salary to reliefs in NYC

    According to NBA.com, he's donating his salary for his next 2 years to the reliefs in NYC. Yea, I know he's already richer than half the planet put together, but who couldn't use an extra couple million bucks? Instead, he donates it for the best cause I can think of right now. He's a true hero.

    Thats a nice move on his part...but why didn't he step up immediately and offer it out of his own personal fortune?

    Don't get me wrong---I'm glad he's doing it, but he's no hero in my eyes for it. A couple of mil to him is $10 or $15 bucks to you and I. It smacks of opportunism.

    Glad to see him back though. Now there's an additional reason to stay glued to the tv. :D

    ESPN confirms that he is donating his FIRST year of salary only....not both years.

    A classy move, in my opinion. He could have given nothing and would still be loved by most.

    It is a classy move. A million dollars will go a long way to helping the efforts in NYC. Its ridiculous to blame a guy because he is only donating a certain amount to a cause. Did anyone call out Mark Cuban for donating "only" a mil? If you want to call someone out for grandstanding, what about Barry Bonds and his pledge on national TV to donate $10,000 for every home run (starting at #54)?

    How is that grand standing? IMO it was a humble gesture and honest move to help those in serious need. Who was to say he'd even hit anymore homers?? To call his move grand standing is a ridiculously stupid thing to say, especially at this time of grief and national tension.

    It is nice that Jordan is donating his salary. I would be more impressed if he kept his salary and donated his endorsement money over the next 2 years.
