It is very rare for me to not have a boss that I wanted to kill at some point. I have had a couple who I might have actually truly hurt or have seriously thought about hurting them. I despised them. I think a lot has to do with Texas and the good ol boy way of doing things. The think they are being manly or something. It's all about some ****ed up ego.

I have absolutely no respect for the person I am working for now. I am pretty sure he is physically abusive to his "girlfriend" etc. He makes me sick. Hopefully I wont be there too much longer but finding a new job sucks. How are you supposed to go on multiple interviews etc when you need to be at work? It seems that I am looking for a new job every 1-2 years because of moronic assholes. Im used to it. And people wonder why I drink. :)

I understand that. But bottom line is he's still a jerk, he was my boss, making him a jerk boss. I hate the way he treats people.

My new boss is great though.

I've never had an awful boss, but then I'm only 21 so I still have plenty of time to find one. But if I had a jerk boss I'd just quit because the pennies people pay are not enough to be miserable. Life's already depressing enough so I'll be damned if I'm stuck in a job I hate with a horrible boss.

sounds like someone needs a few intense sessions of beard scratching and "ah me tofu" chanting sessions :D

whenI was interviewing, i would try to schedule all my interviews on one day and then take off on that day. Most prospective employers are usualy sympathetic to your situation, especially if you have a godo resume.

By Jeff's definition, I've never had a jerk boss. But I HAVE had (and still do) lot's of really annoying bosses.

I can deal with annoying, though. I just blow him off. Not literally...

    Sounds selfish to me.

In this case, it wasn't selfish. It was just about the money. My old boss was trying to short-change me after I had run his business for him for several years. So, I wasn't going to go back and fix something for them for nothing.

Nothing major. Just had to deal with the boss of someone we did some work for a while back. He gave me the third degree about something that had nothing to do with me or my business. It was just weird. I found out later that he is a problem for everyone.

Rent, kids and family, Not wanting to Starve

    So, by and large
Many people live check to check
and walking up and out on a job is just not feasible
If you go say 2 weeks with out a job
then BOOM you in real debt
    and
    playing catch up.

Anyone who knows me personally will not find this surprising. I've worked for two bosses in the past that I found to be jack-asses.

Both times I waited to see if they would change. The last one I even confronted about it. Neither changed.

Both times I waited until my collegues and the boss were all together and i let both have it. Both times just about every collegue agreed with what I said. Both times I was immediately fired. In the first incident things changed. In the second everyone eventually quit, as well.

I suppose it is just my persona. I did the same thing in the 6th grade to a teacher I didn't think was treating everyone fairly. I got detention.

I tend to be lippy when I think things are unfair.

As for me as a boss? As far as I'm concerned, as long as you do your job and produce results, I could care less how much time you take off or how you work. I've seen several people I've worked with that will get there at 7:00 and work until 6:00 and hardly produce a thing. I'vve also seen people who come in for 2 hours and produce a crapload. I tend to prefer the latter over a clock-watcher.
