That's old news and I would guess that many thieves know about it. The thing about locks is that they are pretty easy to get through. I could probably kick in 99% of home doors out there with one or two kicks. So being able to pick one isn't a big deal.

I'm with A-Train; get a big, scary effing dog.

Oh, I had a little trouble getting in... no biggie, though, Fluffy is resting.
I agree. What's THAT going to get you, anyway? Like they can't do anything to the dog, though? :(

    Just put an ALARM up.

    Graphic for A-Train's eyes only:
    If you're not A-Train... don't complain.

4 real...Kinda scary as most homes have the standard cheap locks...An alarm is good and so are pets...but I think I may have to price the locks recommended...

Does that damage the lock at all?

    No damage.

Most criminals use brute force to get inside. This news is for ninjas....

About every 7th key or so of the cheap door locks at Walmart are the same basic cut anyway... I had a cheap "new" lock put on my office door, I got in with a house key that didn't match when compared side-by-side... it was by accident, but let's just say I'm glad I accidentally discovered the crappy lock problem a long time ago.

The cheapest home lock set I'd go with is a Schlage. Kwikset or Brinks is just asking for it, IMO.

Now Brinks actual Home Security Alarms on the other hand... those signs alone can prevent theft. ;) (Because the monitoring is great!)

One of these is a good theft deterrent.
