I just downloaded Pan's Labyrinth the movie.

Is it possible to watch it on my dvd player if I just burn the file on a dvd disc? The file is about 1.4 GB.

I use the Nero burning software. Do I just create a video dvd on the Nero options?

Is there anything else I should know about compression settings or how to properly make a dvd player ready disc?

    Thanks.

too late i have just notified the proper authorities that you have downloaded a movie its only a matter of time now until they start knocking at your door, tying up your first born and ransacking your house!!

It's probably an .avi encoded with either the DivX or the Xvid codec (they're pretty much the same).

Can't really help you with your problem (unless a kickbox to the head will cure it), but I will say that you can get a DVD player that plays divx/xvid files for under $50, fit 4 or 5 downloaded movies on a DVD, and then watch them in your living room while wearing underpants and scratching your junk.

I have one (Philips DVP642), and I love it.

In case you don't know, if you take a compressed .avi and encode it to .vob files (for burning to DVD), it won't be DVD quality.

    But ANYWAYS.

yea, if its xvid/divx file, then there are 2 ways. Either do what was suggested above, which by the way, they have a magnavox DVD/divx player i am about to buy today at Walmart for like $38, or just use a converter program such as the one below:

    http://www.allformp3.com/dvd-copy-software/divx-xvid-to-dvd.htm

or just google "convert divx/avi/xvid to DVD" and they are plenty of programs out there.

My dad got himself a DVD player for Christmas that has a removable USB2 hard drive built into it. Pretty slick feature. Plays all your divx movies too.
