I am sure Wilt chamberlain would be the answer to at least one if not all of the three questions you asked.

I forget where I read it, but Yao's two 35/15 games this season (before tonight) was the first time anyone has had two of those before January since Shaq did it in 2001, I believe.

Now that he's got 3 before January, and 2 of those came back to back, I imagine he's set some records that go pretty far back.

Wilt was so damn good that I'm sure somewhere in the records he probably broke the record. Also, if the NBA had recorded blocks in his career, I'd expect a 10 more triple doubles and add another name to the list of shot blocked.

The last NBA player to have back-to-back 35/15 games was Antonio McDyess in Nov./Dec. 2000.

going back through the 87-88 season (as far back as basketballreference.com game logs go), i couldn't find an instance of hakeem doing it in back to back games.

he had a few close calls, and one time was 1 point away (35/19 then 34/15) and one time was 1 rebound away (37/25!!! and 41/14). amazingly, right after the 41/14 game was the quadruple double that wasn't (29/18/11/9) and he then had a 37/14 game.

for the 4 game stretch he averaged a measly 36 ppg, 17.8 rpg, 4.8 apg, 6.8 bpg, and 2.5 spg with only 1.8 TOpg. that's a nice fantasy line. and he followed that up with a 27/14/8 game.

for the 15 games from 2/27/90 to 3/29/90 he averaged 26.1 ppg, 15.3 rpg, 3.7 apg, 6.2 bpg (!), and 2.8 spg. 9 combined blocks and steals per game for a whole month? i don't think anyone in the nba last year even averaged 5.

anyway, damn impressive by yao to go 38/18 and 35/15. when you're doing stuff even hakeem didn't do, that's impressive. a shame the rest of the team had to waste it in 2 heartbreaking defeats.
