    I know it's sacreligious, but Goodfellas is my favorite mob movie, ahead of Godfather. And the Untouchables is great, too.

    i wouldn't call you sacreligious, that would be a stretch wouldn't it? ;)
    however, i will say that even if good fellas is your favorite, i like it as well, it's definately not a better movie than the godfather. likewise, and in my case it probably is sacreligious :cool: , i prefer miller's crossing to goodfellas. they came out the same year and the cohen bros. flick was kinda overlooked.

    For a mafia movie to be great, I think it has to function as a political allegory.

    In my mind, there are three great mafia movies...

    Godfather
    Godfather 2
    Miller's Crossing

    I will buy Millers Crossing never heard of it but i just saw the Preview and it looks good i cant beleive ive never heard of it??

    i understand what you're saying. you're right...goodfellas is just my favorite. just so well done, and i love the characters. love the storyline. love the span of the decades and how the mob eventually died in the sense of having any real presence here.

    You should read the book. As great as the movie is, it leaves a LOT of good stuff out from the book.
