Apparently, Deshawn Stevenson has informed the Magic that he is seeking the full MLE and has targeted Houston because he's still friends with McGrady. He's requesting a sign-and-trade.

OK, I know where he got his source from. Apparently it is from a guy name MagicConfid who gets alot of things right. I googled "Magicconfid" and many are using him as a source. So he must have some credibility.

Here it is:

It in not in the Press yet and the Magic are still clinging to a slight hope they can change DeShawn's mind, but Stevenson informed the Magic he will try to get a deal with a team where the Magic can do a S&T. It all but sealed his fate as a Magic player.

Apparrently he is still good friends with TMAC and there has been rumors circulating for weeks around RDV that DeShawn has his sights set on the Rockets. The problem with his idea of an S&T, the other team would have to have expiring contracts and offer up a pick to do it.

It has come abuntantly clear to both him and the Magic that while they love his efforts on the court, they need a different type of SG. I expect both sides to say all the right things so not to hurt DeShawn's value, but he promised the Magic a heads up on his decision before the draft and this is where he stands right now. He actually feels he is worth atleast the entire MLE. Something the Magic have let him know they can not commit to.

In other news, the trade talks continue to heat up and I know of 4 possible draft deals. The latest invlove the Magic trading with Portland. I think right now it is all about Otis & co. figuring out which picks are trully in play and what other teams he is competing against to trade for those picks. The most realistic trade remains with the Hawks. The Celitics have way overvalued their pick and for what they are asking, I would assume if they stay with their asking price they will not be able to move it to anyone.

Most teams are looking toward next years draft and free aagent class and have become resigned to the fact that there will not be any team changing players in this years draft. Sure Rudy Gay could become a super star and probably is the closest thing to it, but there is no one like a Chris Paul or Dwight Howard, or Lebron, Melo or Wade, etc. It could be said that this is the perfect draft at the perfect time for the Magic.

The Magic do not need another prima dona on their team. They do not need or want another guy that will need the ball. In Darko, Dwight, Jameer and Hedo they have all the point production they need. So getting one or 2 guys that will turn out to be solid pros and solid teammates is all the Magic are looking for. If they get a guy like Roy, Gay, Morrison or JJ, they are getting them with the outlook they will be a solid pro like a Dennis Scott and Nick Anderson. They feel that they have their Shaq, Horace and Penny type players already, if you want to compare the team to the only finals team the Magic have had.

About the second round picks: Their is a building consensus that if the Magic are able to trade up from their current #11 spot, they may also make a trade to completely get out of the second round for a late first round pick. There are several players on their second teir of talent and they would be tickled to snag on in the late first round.

If things fall the way Otis would like for them to, they would trade up between the 4 -7 draft position, and then trade up from their second round picks to the 23-28 position in the first round. It really should be interesting.

Right now if you were to pencil in a roster, the Magic would say their 15 players would be:

Darko, Dwight, Hedo, Jameer, Battie, Gortat, Outlaw, Augmon, Hill, Dooling, Arroyo, Rookie #1 & Rookie #2, then the last 2 spots will be for the possible resigned Ariza and a vet big man. This is assuming they are able to move Garrity & Deiner, both of which are in most of the trade talks the Magic are in about moving up the draft. It would be funny to see Garrity move to the Celtics though, and that is a big possibility.

And yes the Magic are quietly planning on having Gortat on their roster. He may become the biggest surprise this next season with his expected intense play off the bench. The other unknown right now is how Hill will fit on the team. All indications is that he is progressing and the Magic expect him to be on the team. It is just a matter of being a starter or top sixth man. If the draft fall right, I would expect Hill to be the top sixth man and posible spot starter at the 2 & 3.

No thanks. Like McGrady posted, the guy is basically a Bogans, and I would not give Bogans the MLE. Stevenson has a 26% 3-pt FG, including a miserable 13% last season.

NBA GMs, scouts and coaches will arrive in Orlando, Fla., for the pre-draft camp on Monday, giving them a chance to put the late first-rounders and second-round types through their paces. But the work that might be more important, especially for lottery teams in need of a makeover (the Rockets leap to mind) will be the chance to talk face-to-face about the summer deals.

For the Rockets, this could be especially valuable because they have trade exceptions worth $4.2 million and $1.67 million. Those can be valuable, but the team needs trading partners. This week's chats could indicate who is ready to change their roster and how, or in the Rockets' case, who might want the trade exceptions in exchange for free agents that could be leaving anyway.

For now, most of the players the Rockets would target with $4.2 million would expect full mid-level money or more, but if the Rockets can get a team to help with a sign-and-trade for, to name a few, Fred Jones, DeShawn Stevenson, Devean George, Vladimir Radmanovic or Matt Harpring, they might get an idea this week.
All might be long shots, but it is that time of year. And for the Rockets, adding a shooting guard or a perimeter shooting forward without dipping into their mid-level money could key their offseason maneuvers.

Please don't compare DeShawn to DA. That guy is a disgrace. DeShawn is a pretty good defender we could basically get for free (4.2 trade exception). I would be fine with nabbing this guy, we need all the depth we can get.

ok guys he shoots decent 46%, hes a decent defender, and yes he cant shoot the three, and because of that he doesnt attempt many, only 15 on the season last year, he can be a good 6th man off the bench, im not sure about him as a starter, but yes he is most def an improvement over bogans

Hes a good defender better than Bogans I dont know why you guys say he has no defense. Hes just a bad shooter and horrible at the line. Definately not worth the full mle though.

I wouldn't have a problem with taking him for a chunk of the TE (NOT THE MLE). What do we lose? He's still young and he still has potential. He's a lot of the things we need, even if not all. I'd be fine with 2 or 3 million a year. 10-15 million dollar contract. That's a fair price. It certainly couldn't be worse than what we've gotten with Stromile Swift for the MLE.
