Good news -- I just quit my job. It went pretty well. Now I'll have more time to make posts for a little while.

Anybody know any jobs in Houston? I could move there and then I'll be able to attend Rockets games. My previous job was strategy consultant, and my industry experience is in biopharmaceuticals, so I guess I'm looking at consulting, market research, or venture capital, but I could do industry I guess.

Good for you...My job is alright now, weird environment, some changes coming, so I'll probably be in the market soon...Not sure if I want to stay in Dallas, but who knows...Good luck...

These guys aren't hiring, but they sound up your alley. Shoot them an email/give them a call and I'm sure they will at least give you some ideas on who else to contact.

I just read about them in the business journal and remered the name. They closed on a $325 million last May.

How can people afford to quit without having something else lined up?

I guess I never had the guts to do that. I allways stuck it out until something else came along.

Where in Dallas are you living? How do you like it? I'm assuming you're not from there. I'm looking at transferring in about 2 years and my only option that involves moving back to Texas will be Dallas. The wife and I are getting good vibes from Frisco and the surrounding area. I've hated Dallas and everything about it all my life, but I gotta get back to Texas.

No offense, but why would you quit one job when you don't have one lined up to replace it?

I did that ONE time. Never gain. I hate ramen to this day because of it. I thought, "I'll find something else, I have experience, education, etc." I was wrong. Took me about a year to find a decent job. I had temp jobs and BS jobs in the meantime, but took forever to find a job that paid like I was used to.

I have an offer from another company and potentially another. I just want to make sure I test the market a little more.

yeah, no offense, but you are definitley more attractive to an employer when you are employed, then when you are unemployed.

    Yeah, Dallas still sucks... :p

I live near the Galleria, in North Dallas and its a great location for singles...Near all the bars and rest. and its a lot of fun...Frisco I hear is nice, but traffic can be horrible at times...Going north (evenings & south mornings)on 75 sucks and on parts of the tollway near the Galleria, but after that, its tolerable...If I were to move again, I'd probalby Coppell or Grapevine or any place up north as to get better housing for the buck...

ditto, i'm here till i finish school, then i'm out. hopefully back to houston.

frisco is nice, tons of young couples in a new booming area. it's supposed to overtake dallas' actual population eventually... which is crazy considering 5 years ago the population was under 5,000.
