My dog that I got over two months ago has peed on my loveseat, once on the cushion and then once on the actual loveseat. Although the smell is not too bad I am not going to leave it untreated. Does anybody have any tips on how to clean this stuff well? How do you do it? What products do you use? Any special tools or appliances? I already scrubbed both spots with soap and water. I can take the cover off the loveseat cushion and actually wash it but it looks like it would be a real pain to get it back on just from the way it is shaped and the cushion has pee on it anyway. So, any advice?

If you live in Houston, call Dirty Free Venturi. I've had 3 diff companies try to clean pet stains out of carpet and they were, by far, the best.

They actually use a special enzyme that is specifically for pet stuff.

Is your dog's name "Poppie" by any chance?

Nature's Miracle Stain & Odor Remover

Nature'sMiracle Stain & Odor Remover contains the same ingredients that nature uses to rid organicdebris from the earth's surface--enzymes. It consists of billions ofnature's enzymes that turn organic stains and odor causing materialinto a liquid you simply wipe away. Recommended for the removal ofurine, stool, blood or any organic material from any surface

    This stuff is great!

I would have to get rid of the loveseat. But, if your not going to do that, then I agree with mc mark in that you can't just use "soap and water" to treat dog urination. You need to go to Pet's Mart or somewhere to buy the stain and odor remover with enzymes to break down the urine. Your dog has marked that spot and, if it can pick up the scent of where it went to the bathroom, chances are it will do it again in the same spot. I don't see how your going to treat a cushion, though, unless you just soak the whole thing in it or put enough on there to let it soak all the way through like the urine did.

Your dog broke cardinal rule #1 and abused it's sofa privileges. Usually dogs won't go to the bathroom where they like to hang out so...is your dog stupid or something? Stupid is as stupid does.

I knew this, that is why I posted the question.

    Will do today.

    I knew that too.

I planned to do something like that.

Yes he broke the rule and trust me he got something to remind him not to do it again.

I think he has bladder problems. I take him out all the time and he uses the bathroom outside but it never fails, whenever sombedoy walks in or pets him he still lets pee out for some reason. Do they make medicine for this?

It's called Puppy Prozac. Nah...when I read that statement above...I just thought "oh...sh*t...you've got one of those dogs that pees when it gets even a little excited". It almost seems psychological. Was that dog abused by a former owner or something? I dunno...I've seen dogs that pee when you pet them before. Not sure if it is from excitement, a trained response, or what? Sounds like a reason for a vet visit.

    LOL.

    Pun,

Please promise me that you are not going to hit your dog for this. There are other ways to discipline an animal - physical abuse is NOT one of them.

I have friends who have a dog that does that. Basically they were told that the dog was peeing to show submission, and that it was something that could be fixed by a trainer. I don't know how true that is though, all second hand and not something I've ever actually looked into.

No, I do not. I harshly scold him though and he knows that he has done bad because he will go hide under my bed. That's what I meant by my post above. I will put him on his leash, take him to where he did something wrong, then scold him for it while he cannot get away. When I let him off the leash he runs under my bed.....until he hears his box of treats rattle then he knows I'm not mad anymore. :D
