Ever since Bush started running, many Dems have been hoping he'd self destruct. Banking on that hasn't exactly been a winning strategy and is absolutely no substitute for hard work and coordination. In my view it's contributed a good amount to the damage Bush and cronies have been able to get away with. If the shoe were on the other foot and a Dem had taken office the way Bush did, the GOP would have been merciless at trying to drive polling numbers as low as they could. That the Dems bought into civility, kept thinking in pre-1994 terms, and allowed Bush breathing room even when they had a majority on the Senate provided the base for Bush to exploit 9-11 to the extent he was able. That his numbers are as low as they are with virtually no help from Dems speaks volumes about how vulnerable he really is, yet we can't even get a vote on a radical SC nominee delayed until after the SOTU.
LOL The meltdown on dailykos yesterday made for hilarious reading!!! The people that read that blog regularly and post on it are some of the most bitter losers I've ever come across. They are in crisis mode after Alito.
