    Who has tried the Slingbox? How is the quality?

    Sounds like a fantastic concept to me.

    Because pplive and ppstream don't really seem to work for me anymore, I am even considering to offer anyone (one reliable person) from here to pay for a Slingbox for him/her, if that person in turn makes sure that the device attached to the Slingbox will be ON and turned to the Rockets game for every single game of the season...

    Does that make sense or is it crazy? :)

    SJC, Slingbox is like $250 bucks.

    I'd find someone with ORB. I'm more than willing to do that for you. But my video capture card died on me.

    I'd have to get another one, but no cash flow for me right now.

    I'd be willing to to that for you with the Slinbox thing.

    But I might be moving this summer and so I might not be the best choice.

    Gadget company lands Liberty Media, EchoStar funds

    NEW YORK, Jan 31 (Reuters) - Media gadget maker Sling Media Inc. on Tuesday said it had landed $46.6 million in financing from media conglomerate Liberty Media Corp. (L.N: Quote, Profile, Research), satellite TV operator EchoStar Communications Corp. (DISH.O: Quote, Profile, Research) and Goldman Sachs.

    Sling Media's Slingbox, which lets users send television programs to wireless laptops, portable devices and cell phones over a wireless Internet connection, has garnered close attention by consumers and the media industry.

    Traditional media companies have viewed such devices, including a similar model made by Sony Corp. (6758.T: Quote, Profile, Research), with a mix of caution and optimism as they attempt to track viewers, whose attention has shifted from the living room to computers and devices.

    Investment bank Allen & Co. LLC, Doll Capital Management, Mobius Venture Capital, and The Hearst Corp. also participated in the current round of financing, Sling Media said.

    I've been using Orb to stream my tv and watch games on my Phone when i am away. Very good quality on my phone and if you stream it from a fast connection it definitly has a great quality on it.
