Ace did Clinton ever get a PDB that said "Bin Laden determined to strike in America" while he was on vacation and did nothing about it? just wondering...
They died because of hijackers who flew the planes into buildings. Clinton sent precision strikes with missles where Bin Laden was. The reason those missles didn't kill him is because he had already gone. Sending in troops would have also missed. Because it is much faster to send in a missle than to organize and deploy troops. So if Bin Laden got out before a missle got there, he certainly would have been gone before troops got there. Clinton might have been able to do more if the Republicans in congress had approved the anti-terror mesures such as increased wiretapping authority that he wanted. While Clinton didn't do enough to get Bin Laden he did do quite a bit. Bush on the other hand enacted how many anti-terrorism steps during his time in office prior to 9/11?
There are no "our intel knew at the time" BS comments you can make, especially after the Iraqi WMD intel fiasco, that can hold water. Please. That is just Republican bar room talk for people who think it's better to blame the former Pres. than the Pres. who had the watch when 9-11 actually happened. Hate Clinton all you want the for the US it was 8 great years, if you can put up with a pres who like the LADIES.
...And I recall the GOP launching a "Wag the Dog" compaign against Clinton after those cruise missles. They said he was diverting attention from the stained blue dress. So which is it? Was Clinton too aggressive or not enough? It sure is convenient for the GOP to change their tune on the matter. Perhaps Clinton would have had more latitude to chase Osama if he wasn't the target of a witch hunt and the subject of a grand jury every time he takes a crap. Anyway, Clinton sucked because he lied. Granted. But the GOP sucked more for wasting taxpayers money to go after Clinton on a sex scandal. And W sucks even more than that for lying to America about justification for war which has killed WAY more than 3000 people.
To be fair, according to Clarke and others Clinton did want to put boots on the ground in Afghanistan but was talked out of it by the Pentagon, hence missle strikes. There is enough blame to go around. Clinton should have stuck to his guns, er...stood his ground and ordered them after Osama, but he would most likely have been crucified by the GOP and the public who were pretty unaware of Osama until 9/11.
I never saw this movie. Sounds like one I might put in my Netflix queue just to check out. BTW, I just had my wallet stolen by a 12 year old girl. How 'bout that? Nothing could be more HUMILIATING.
