I was playing football outside this evening about 6:00 and all of a sudden it felt like I had a lit cigarette being put out on my finger. I looked at it and there was nothing there so I thought that maybe I was imagining the pain. It wouldn't go away no matter what I did to it. When it happened, I was swinging my arms, so I didn't think that I had been stung by anything but after about 15 minutes, I could see a little circle with a red dot in the middle. I guess that it was a wasp or a yellow jacket. The weird thing is that it is still hurting. It swelled up a little bit, but it's not red and there's nothing that you can really see to know what happened. I've been stung by a wasp before, but it didn't seem to last this long that I can remember. Anyway, it's a mystery to me how that could have happened and I was just curious of anyone else's experience with stings.
I had a wasp sting me when I was 12ish and it felt about the same way as you said, I remember just putting ice on it and didnt have a problem with it after a hour or so...
If the redness or sting lasts for more than a day or two, you're supposed to go to the doctor. Wasp and bee stings can be fatal to some people so putting some OTC ointment or spray on it isn't going to help. Go to a doctor or ER and let them check it out if you start feeling whacky.
the more times you get stung by wasps, the worse the reaction. i've been stung about 4-5 times...and it's been worse everytime. the last time was when i was about 13 and was heading to UT baseball camp...i couldn't fit my hand in my glove, it was so swolen. benadryl didn't work. nothing worked. took about a week for the swelling to go down.
The pain went away and now it just itches. No big deal. I just thought that it was strange to get stung the way that I did.
