Anyone knows about surveillance camera system for the house? Can you recommend something simple? Do you just get a camera and plug it into your PC? Can you do that with 2+ cameras? Do you need a camera management system and software? How about Panasonic models? Thanks.

Real survelliance cameras can get expensive. You may want to go the wireless camera route. Make sure they're a bit weatherproof if you're putting them outside. Also consider that it gets umm... dark at night, so you may want to have ones with nightvision/infrared pickup.

If you want to find some products you don't need, but think you do (lol), go to www.smarthome.com.

Don't buy from X10. They are made from the cheapest crap known to man.

There are a lot of nice (fairly cheap) wireless cameras that hook up to your PC rather easily... but stay away from X10.
