    Menace II Society, actually had a good plot to it. Even watched/studied it in my Hip-Hop Generation class here at UT.

    Clearly the best "hood" movie ever. It had so many good messages in there, along with true to life scenarios that many black people face ALL of the time. A lot of good actors played in it as well before they "blew" up. John Singleton's best movie.

    A lot of movies came out after that trying to kind of mimic that, like Menace II Society, although it was good entertainment value for me, and I just couldn't really get into the "message", because it really didn't differenciate from Boyz In The Hood all that much.

    Always Outnumbered - another one starring Lawrence Fishburne, I liked this one better than Boyz in the Hood.

    friday after next was better than next friday.... but neither are anywhere near the original, which is my favorite.
