Ordinarily, I'm there. This particular weekend I'll be in San Anton. Hope the weather's excellent and the cars entertaining.

Damn, you mean to tell me I'm the only person from this BBS going to the Art Car Parade????? It drew 250,000 Houstonians last year!

I will be there soaking up the sun (hopefully) and the sights, enjoying a weekend of rest before a three gig weekend next weekend.

If anybody is planning on going and wants to get together for a cold one, let me know!

I'm not only going, I'm in it! I'll be driving the Jesus Christ Monkey Car... it's purple and yellow swirls with Jesus and monkey's all over it! The owner of the car will probably be dressed as a Jesus Monkey and riding a banana scooter... I'll be driving and we'll have about 4 rollerskating/blading monkeys following us!!

I guess I could go to the parade. Where's a good place to park and so forth?

with hundreds of thousands of people showing up, parking can be a pain... so get there early, ride a bike or take a bus... I'm lucky, I'll be in it, so I won't have to worry...

Parking will be all in the neighborhood off of Taft near Channel 11, along the Allen Parkway feeder road, some folks will be parking near Dallas and Taft and in the neighborhood between W. Gray and Dallas, Taft and Montrose.. the old 6th Ward is kinda near Allen Parkway and there's a pedestrian footbridge to cross Memorial at Sabine Street, so get creative... also, if you bring along the rug-rats, please take into consideration, the heat and bring some water, sunscreen, hats and the like! Also the later you show up, the harder parking will be! Good luck!

Nope. Going to Tyler to meet my nephew for the first time!

BTW, don't make plans for next Saturday. We're gonna BBQ by the pool for Renee's bday. We're going to make the "Humidifier" or "Panty Dropper", if you will.

Man. I went to get some lunch with this girl on saturday afternoon at this place, or whatever. Some place called Luby's or something... Traffic was a b****. I went to the one near Gray and Waugh, and I was trying to get back to downtown, and that was a b****. The car's were pretty sweet though.

My wife and I used to live on the corner of West Dallas and Saulnier right by Allen Parkway. Close proximity to the Art Car Parade was one of the little bonuses that made it worth living. Do they still have that terrifying giant evil white rabbit car? That was something out of Lewis Carrol's nightmares :)

I rode my bike along Allen Parkway yesterday morning. Passed a large number of cars, including that really long rocket looking one. Then there was one that looked like a supersize wagon being towed by a pick-up. Then thing had wooden wheels that looked like they were 10 feet high.

There is no corner of Saulnier and Dallas. They run parallel to each other. Where'd you live on Saulnier? I used to live at 608 W. Saulnier with local rock stars Chris King, Cary Winscott and Mel Taylor. Maybe my favorite house ever.
