'Midweek' day game?

    I just noticed that the Hawks are hosting the Sonics today (Thursday) in the early hours of the afternoon. In fact the game has started. Does anyone know why this is so?

    I have been following the NBA for a while now and I cannot recall this happening save for special holidays and weekends (Sat and Sun).

    Could it be because of the Bowl game between Miami and Florida?

    A lot goes into the scheduling of games like TV, venue availablity etc, so i am sure there had to be some other stuff that conflicted that causes a game at this time.
