If this was the central issue in the next election and I had one candidate saying we must go to war to stop Iran from ever getting nukes and another candidate saying, eh, whatever, we can live with a nuclear Iran -- I know which one I'm voting for.
It was not and still is not a central issue. The public was already at whatever on Iran. Iran, as horrible as they are, wasn't a direct or imminent threat to Americans. This war makes that more likely. And even then, Americans care far more about other things. But what's really telling is the "no more wars" MAGA crowd. That went out the window fast. Turns out it was never a principle, just a political talking point. The 180 some people did when their side started the bombing? LOL.

Wait do you think that I actually think it would be a good idea to go to war with North Korea?? My point is pretty clear that you can’t just go to war with anyone that says death to America and might one day make a nuke (given that anyone with the internet and Uranium can potentially be a nuclear threat) because you’d be at war with everyone all the time potentially. Obviously there are cases where you can judge the threat by the intelligence you gather and make informed decisions but just going to war with a country because they don’t like America and have smart people and access to raw materials is setting yourself up for endless wars.
Instead of staking a position that every country that has people who say “death to America” needs to be bombed and die, why don’t we first seek to understand why they say death to America and see if maybe we can change our behavior globally to fix the underlining issue??
And the whole propaganda talking point that countries hate us because they want what he have or they want to kill Christianity is nonsense. I heard that all the time at the church I grew up in during the 9/11 era. When I went into the real world I found that the opposite is typically true. Anti American sentiment and nuclear defense measure are a cause and effect of our imperialist policies That’s also why much of the Arabic world was a bit fascinated by Trump at first with his America First rhetoric, but now I think most of them realize that it’s just more of the same if not much worse.
