I was appalled when SCOTUS took a mainstream understanding of 50 years tenure to the right to an abortion and canned it. But, how much more an affront it would be to take an understanding of our rights that had even broader consensus and for 3 times as long and just said "we've been wrong the whole time!" If that many people understood it that way for that long, it's the case, it is the interpretation. I know they can parse some legalese to say it's not really so, but they'd only indict themselves for putting their vision for what they want America to be over the legitimacy of the social contract we have preserved for generation upon generation.

 

Ruling that people born on US soil to non-citizens are not citizens would destroy this country, and that's not hyperbole.

 

Its literally spelled out unambiguously in the Constitution. Any judge who rules to appease Trump has to know they are violating the Constitution and should be disbarred. I refuse to believe that someone accomplished enough to get a gig on the Supreme Court wouldn't inherently and plainly understand that this is the case.

That shouldn't be a particularly controversial position, but I'm sure it would make Trump and MAGA lose their mind. It's weaponized ignorance.

This is in effect trying to get the Supreme Court to declare that the sky is orange, not blue, and I'm afraid that some of the more ideologically driven among them are going to do just that. Madness

Who gives two ****s if the rapidly shrinking MAGA base is incised by a ruling that birthright citizenship is constitutional. It's not like these crybaby snowflakes are ever ****ing happy.
