Good question. Its either ime or stone since the players are just a byproduct of these 2 dumbasses. I will go with egghead. At least ime looks like he wants to win these games, he is just too stupid to figure it out. That loser stone probably wants to go back to tanking again. The only thing hes good at
How can this question be answered with any value before the playoffs? Critical for me: we’re not dumping any more top 8 rotation players before Ime proves he can run a competent offense in the playoffs.
A good GM wouldn't sit on an incompetent coach. He also wouldn't construct a broken roster and give up on trying to fix it during your 37 year old superstars final impact years. You replace Stone with a good GM, and that solves both roster and coaching. The only problem is ownership can still meddle, but ownership wasn't a poll option.
It's really hard to predict what's going to happen if you fire either Stone or Udoka. It can be better or it can be worse. I think both of them are part of our problems, but for how much I don't know. It's easier to imagine how getting rid of one of the rotation player will look like. I do want to see how another coach can do with this group before we blow up the young core. But looks like trading part of the core is more likely than getting rid of Stone or Udoka.
Both Stone and Udoka will return next year with their jobs on the line. For Stone, there is no chance he runs the same group back and his moves over the summer will speak very loudly. For Udoka, an early sign to look for is how much he shakes up his staff. If he brings the same worthless clowns back, he's a dead coach walking.
GMs get fired for three reasons only: multiple years of abject futility, change of ownership, or internal misbehavior/power struggle/controversy. None of which are anywhere close to happening in Houston. GMs tend to be around for a looong time, and are often really the avatar of the owner, as Stone is. Zero point in discussing Stone's job security. Udoka isn't getting fired either. Only possibility of him not being here in the next 12-18 months is if someone else wanted him like the Knicks did last summer and there was some mutual parting + compensation. Very very low likelihood. Amen/Jabari/Reed/FVV/Adams will be here next year. The rest... depends on the market for them.
I agree with you, although I’m not sure Ime sees Reed as unexpendable. I think most of us are just slamming our heads against the wall about how stupid Ime is and frightened that we will throw away the future for Giannis or some other over the hill guy. I see an outside chance of us unloading Ime if we fall to the 7th seed and lose in the play-in, but that happening is a long shot and if it does it is still a long shot that they eat Ime’s extension. Stone is safe.
Our core guys are 23, 23, 22, and 21. I don't think anyone should go. In the off-season flip the DFS contract into something actually useful and bring in an assistant coach that actually has an offensive mind and can implement some offensive schemes and run it back with a healthy FVV and Adams. I think consistent PG play will make a world of difference for this team. For a DFS trade, I'd be looking for a combo guard who has decent ball handling so can run PG duties in a pinch and can hit at least league average 3 pointers. I'd prefer to not give up one of our current owned 1sts, I'd like to keep touching the war chest as a break glass in case of emergency sort of thing, but I'd dangle any number of 2nds and for the right guy maybe offer like a 2030 first round swap. If I had to pick someone to go it'd be Ime but I don't know that there's some obvious upgrade available and I think Ime does have some positives
My top 3 that should go. 1. Ime 2. KD 3. FVV The first is obvious he is getting out coached daily. The 2nd is only going to get worse and he doesn't fit with all of our younger guys The 3rd is an old guard in the way of a better one up and coming - if he can play backup sure, but I don't think he will want that. Avatar of someone who has only said things that were like hot air........Phase 2, Phase 2.5, Phase 3......to fill the seats. Trading for KD and Giannis is just another version of trading for CP3 and Russell Westbrook.....what else is new..... The Nuggets GM was fired with Malone after a championship because they could not stand each other's opinions and directions......both were fired.
