And then we miss the playofffs by 1 game again because we demoted him for control issues while throwing Cole and Matthews out there to strike out 40% of the time This team is no longer good enough to send down one of its best 9 players for control reasons
In this scenario though, it seems like the two outcomes are: Walker for 2 years at $40MM total Lowe at $27MM for 1 year (since you're paying part of Walker's contract) and losing whatever extra prospects you had to send If Walker sucks the next two years, then its a good move just to get out of his deal - but if that trade is available, they could have done that with or without Lowe had they wanted. But there's still upside that Walker doesn't suck, in which case, you're better off just keeping him - the playing time issue will work itself out. I don't think there's necessarily a right or wrong choice there.
https://www.mlb.com/astros/news/astros-2026-opening-day-roster It’s odd to me how consistently the Astros’ beat writer keeps mentioning the possibility of Paredes and Meyers being traded. The season starts in 2 weeks. Hard not to read into it that there is something agreed to that the teams have agreed to table to ensure a preseason injury doesn’t change the calculus.
South Park skit came way after Oceans Eleven but yeah I guess either one lol I didn’t take Buck as a South Park watcher but could be completely wrong there
I don’t see anything in that article talking about Paredes being traded? Only thing I read in there was they tried trading him which everyone is well aware. I would be a significant amount that there isn’t going to be a trade anytime soon.
From the section on Paredes: If it weren’t for those types of comment continually coming up even as recently as yesterday, I too would be really surprised if there was a trade before opening day. I just don’t see why they would keep mentioning the possibility this late in the preseason if there wasn’t a good reason for them to believe something could happen. It’s weird and I don’t recall speculation like this ever before, especially from MacTaggert.
I think trading Paredes has to be on hold until Pena's followup to determine how quickly he is healing. If Pena isn't able to return by mud-April then they must keep Paredes for now. If Allen is starting, that kills any improvement adding an OF makes.
i don't think its a surprise and I think they are referring to later in the season. Paredes could very well get traded depending on how the young outfield performs and how healthy the infield stays but I would think that more as a mid-season thing. If the outfield is sucking and Walker is doing well, Paredes becomes more expendable - he's still their best trade asset if they need to improve somewhere else.
Yeah, I’m reading it like @Major and think he’s meaning that could still happen but it will be this summer. The logjam isn’t going away next season either unless Walker just completely flames out.
