I guess what I meant is I'm not looking to upgrade from Fred, I'm looking to trade away all of the veterans and go back to drafting and acquiring young players. I don't think making upgrades to any individual position is going to fix this team, unless we miraculously manage to get a guy like Ant Edwards or Jayson Tatum. We screwed up trying to accelerate the timeline and need to go back to the drawing board and be willing to miss the playoffs in order to have long term success.
Partially agree with going back to drawing board but I don’t see how we just go back to drafting and acquiring young players. Fred ain’t bringing nothing back and Sengun + Tari might be the only thing to bring back picks + young talent This trade with Murray just to separate Ime and Fred while upgrading the position but I would see what Sengun & Tari brought for a soft rebuild. I want to get off Senguns contract and have fresh books leading up to KDs departure in 2028. If Reed shows ready to be starter you can trade Murray in 2027.
I'd play him along side of FVV at the 2 move Amen to the 3 and have KD at 4. Jabari would come off the bench. Sengun and filler should get it done since the Pels are still looking for their starting center. Just makes too much sense.
Alongside FVV....no. Sengun is worth waaaay more than that. Jabari isn't coming off the bench. it all makes zero sense.
We don’t need a franchise guy to pair with Amen. We need a stretch 5 that can also guard the rim. That one move gives Amen and Reed all they need to be a dynamic back court. We should really go hard at Atlanta for the NOP pick and Okongwu even if it means adding the two 27 and a future Rocket FRp picks to Sengun to make it happen. If you can unload Durant for an expiring and frp you do it, otherwise you play it out with him one more year, but force him off the ball as much as possible. Amen and Reed are not our turnover problem or our spacing problem, Sengun and Durant are. Amen, Reed, Durant, Jabari, Okongwu with FVV, DFS, Tari(?), Adams/Capella, Frp off the bench gives you a chance to compete next year and sets you up for the future. If you can get positive return for any of FVV, Durant, DFS, or Adams more the better.
I absolutely agree with this. I don’t think you can do that in this one off-season, but I think you can make strides toward that. Durant is going to be really hard to move. FVV will be really hard to move until the deadline. Sengun is the trade chip to start the transition back to youth.
I wouldn’t trade for Murray with FVV on the team still. Him & Ime need a divorce. Doesn’t make much sense. Save Sengun for a bigger trade if possible
I agree but I wasn’t trying to get that deep into restructuring the roster lol. Just a simple upgrade from FVV if possible. I do think Sengun, Tari, DFS should be consolidated for a stretch 5 and another role player but I have no idea who at this time. I don’t think Atl is giving up that NOP pick I am curious how much Sengun could bring back at this point. I would like both him and Fred traded this off season
This is absolute truth. Murray is not the answer with or without FVV. We really have two player trade chips, Amen and Sengun. The only way to materially improve this team this off-season is to trade Sengun and picks, but not for aging vets, especially Giannis. Here is a trade that might work and would meet my objective for the future when Ime is gone. It gives us 2 young players that fit with Amen, Reed, and Jabari and hopefully a top 4 pick in this upcoming draft. We give up Sengun who I think will make a comeback next year, but will never be a great fit with Amen and gives Atlanta two lottery shots in 27 and a third down the line from us. It’s a big gamble that the 26 pick hits and that Okongwu is our answer at the 5. Next year’s roster if we can’t move Durant, FVV: Amen Reed Durant Jabari Okongwu Bench: FVV - trade at deadline NAW==- FRP(26) to replace Durant hopefully in 28. Tari- resign if cheap enough DFS - try to move Adams - try to move Capella Okogie - resign if cheap enough This move would finally get our roster on the same timeline starting in 27 just as Amen, Reed, Jabari are starting to hit their potential.
I gotta see what the NOP lands before I trade that many first but I like where your heads at. I don’t know much on Okongwu. At 6’10 I might just try Jabari as a stretch 5 instead for short periods to start game lol I wish we could do FVV for Murray & somehow package DFS for Ty Jerome (9mil contract) Murray / Jerome Amen / Reed KD / Tari Jabari / Sengun / Capella / Adams If crazy enough to start Bari at the 5, you could throw Reed or Jerome at SG and Amen to the 4. Would fix a lot of backcourt issues. Murray & Jerome would be easy to move the following year. Would be happy with NAW also
I’ve floated the Jabari at the 5 several times. It will take at least two off-seasons for him to put on the muscle and weight to make it plausible long-term. It would also take Jabari being willing to go down that road. I get it on Okongwu and the NOP pick, but the gamble is the only way I could see Atlanta giving up the chance to land Boozer. The 27 nets pick would be really hard to let go without a guaranteed top pick in this draft. We have the same conundrum with that pick, however. If the Nets get the number 1 or 2 pick this year they have a ton of cap space and a preferred destination for FAs to become at least a middlin team next year. Phoenix probably won’t be in the lottery come 27.
Well I did the trade for Murray this morning on 2k myleague and it simulated us winning the championship lol. Im just saying
I would consider a move like this at this point - but why are we sending out the most valuable player and the most picks? That doesn't make sense to me. I understand Sengun hasn't been playing that well recently, but I think you guys are vastly under-valuing him.
Why would the Pelicans give him up though? I mean, if we could deal Fred and another contract along with picks for him, I'd do it in a heartbeat. But I don't see New Orleans going for that.
