Given his physical limitation, one glaring weakness for reed is to quickly learn to have a quick feet and stay in front of his attacking player in proper time (meaning, the 4th quarter) Also his appetite to steal from behind should be managed better (not in the 4th quarter). This tendency is what makes reed unable to stay in front of the opposing player.
Reed's court vision is so good that to keep the video family friendly they had to make him walk in front of Vanessa
That in itself is a huge sign of progress under this head coach, I guess, when you consider how many DNP-CDs he had last season, plus that little stint in the G-League.
5 threes. 11 attempts. Generational ****ing shooter. He may not be a franchise player but he can definitely help out this team and Ime in running offenses
I was told by someone last season that Reed Sheppard has poor shot mechanics.... that person can't be a complete moron so there's no way Reed is a good shooter, right?
I haven't checked to see if the numbers support it, but just from the old eye test, KD seems to be a bigger issue defensively than Sheppard. Not from lack of ability so much as a lack of effort far too often....though the ability is not what it once was either.
One thing is certain - when Reed brings the ball up, he is getting blitzed on the pick and roll almost every time. The amount of attention he commands is all anyone needs to know about the player he is. He will improve - he has a lot of turnovers on those blitzes but that's a part of the learning process. The Rockets need him in order to be the team they want to be. He definitely needs to improve his handle (not picking up his dribble and putting himself into a corner) and needs to be able to beat his man off the dribble one on one.
You watching the same games as us? Pelicans were a perfect example, they hunted him every time they need a basket. Maybe Redds guy doesn’t score, but it forces us to double and everyone has to scramble to make up for it. Meaning the numbers are skewed.
Just like Kd is the 3rd best player in the nba at defending pick and roll. * I am not responding to your post zeeshan. Just tried using your chart for a post.
they were doing that regardless this is some psychology thing. People do this every game to where it validates their thinking. T was happening to Amen, DFS, Okogie and all the good defenders, and it happens every single game regardless of if Reed is in. the numbers refute the folks every single time but narratives are easier
