Also there’s several scouts, basketball operations people, etc including Witus who aids in Stone’s decision making. Stone still has final decision making But it’s usually a collaborative team effort in terms of trades, drafts, and contracts. Stone has said he sees everyone on his staff as “scouts” to help him. Rockets actually have a robust scouting department that’s bigger than a lot of teams.
Morey couldn’t even reach the finals in 13 years. What did he really accomplish? He also built a 2018 team that couldn’t drive to the paint outside of Harden, Paul, and Gordon and died by his 3 pt philosophy and poor team construction.

The loss of FVV wasn't a single point of failure but the beginning of multiple failures all related the lack of a starting point guard. With FVV they decided to spend their remaining cap space on a 3D dude who isn't doing much of either this precluded them from going after another competent guard. They started the season thinking Amen and Shepard could hold down the backup minutes. Now one of them is the starter and the other first off the bench - They've both failed miserably at running the offense.

That team took the greatest team of all time to 7 games and then had a solid 6 game series that was decided by 5 points or less each game. Ime was in the east. His finals run is very overrated. Faces the bucks without middleton. Faces the heat without herro and a banged up butler that still goes down to the very last second of a game 7. And let’s not talk about Stones pathetic drafting, player development, and coach selection. Also getting owned by the warriors inspite of having a far superior team.
He was actually good last year with Adams, yes, he is actually not that good without a bruiser helping him....he is just that kind of player..... Duncan and KG never wanted to play Center for a reason.
