The problem here has always been thinking that trading for KD would instantly make us contenders. That's sparked anger and discontent among the "fans," who don't realize that most of the key players on this roster are only 23-24 years old. Not everyone reaches their full potential in 2-3-4 years. As a fan, I'd rather watch our guys grow, blossom, and become stars here at home than see them exploit their talent elsewhere and then regret it later. This roster has holes, but we'll never know what our kids are capable of if we don't give them the opportunity to mature and grow. Otherwise, we'll continue to be a franchise that only picks up older players and gives bad long-term contracts in pursuit of an elusive championship, while other teams remain young and contenders. We'll keep signing old All-Stars. The change needs to be in the front office, not on the roster.

 

Does that say something when the 8th Seed Clippers are playing better ball than the Rockets......

Seeding is not everything.

 

the season is long, and there are ups and downs. by this point, everyone is tired. Sengun, especially seems exhausted.

I love watching Sengun play, and it would not bother me if it was on another team. I would feel different about keeping him if he taller and more of a deterrent at the rim. It's more likely that Amen develops a corner 3 than Sengun grows three inches.

They don't remember he had two of them in Boston and still got his ass handed to him by Steve Kerr's less talented roster. Same problems: irrational rotation choices, clunky offensive system and play calling to go with elite defense.

IMO if Ime doesn't meet the expectations of our seeding this year (#3 best team) then his history points to the Celtics run as an outlier.

We are not even going to be top five in the West. Probably 6th seed, only because Phoenix has a monstrously hard schedule the rest of the way. Even if we do pull off a 3 seed, we are still toast in the playoffs. If you are ok with participation trophies, I see your point.

 

Amen and Alpi have been given every opportunity to grow.... neither of them has done anything with those opportunities.

 

The expectations have risen, I mean if we still hold this squad to lower standards, sure, the Defensive intensity is worlds better than the tanking teams of Stephen Silas ....
Some of us want to win a Chip or go to the Finals again, that is why this Status Quo is so hard to accept. Otherwise tank again or perpetually go after the 3rd Seed.....

 

There are literally no casuals that seek out and participate in Clutchfans. You have to be pretty diehard to want to be part of this community.
