"Moreover, even the idea of running a “team first, no franchise player” team is problematic. To make that work, the synergy needs to be perfect. It isn’t with this team. Sengun and Sheppard are a rough defensive pairing. Sengun and Thompson are a poor offensive pairing."

There might of been some bad decisions here or there, yet sitting as a top 3 in west next to Lakers right now, with
major roster holes is sorta impressive. Here hoping things will shape up, yet the season is not over. Playoffs will
    be interesting.

Im sure some roster moves could be made. Just like Jeff Teague stated there going to need 2nd goto guy, if they cant find a franchise player anytime soon.

I do think the front office will eventually have to make a choice between Sengun and Amen. It just doesn't work with both of them out there. I tend to think Amen is the choice, because as the article mentions, if we keep Sengun we still have an issue of playing Sengun and Sheppard together (defensively). That said, finding a center that can spread the floor to compensate for Amen's weaknesses is easier said than done. There really aren't an abundance of those guys. Especially that can play defense or get offensive rebounds the way Ime would like.

Honestly these are all things they can work on in the offseason. Its not a point blank problem. They are still a young group .

I think smart fans saw the consolidating move coming sooner or later.....

I think there's an argument that this was just the season from hell with a lot of bad luck but there are still some pretty glaring roster issues. Pretty sure the FO didn't want two non shooters to be the franchise players.

Who is more likely to develop a league 3 pt shot, Amen or Sengun?

    Asking for a friend.

I honestly believe they could both be top 25 players if they could develop a consistent efficient mid-range shot, assuming additional overall development. And I am confident both players can do that. I don’t see either as becoming a good 3pt shooter. And I don’t think they are a good fit together…unfortunately.

Does anyone believe in Jabari starting at the 5 and Amen at the 4?

I would go after the best point guard possible for a trade with Sengun, FVV, and Tari. Maybe Reed if price is right. Start Bari at the 5 and slide him & Amen over for Capella first rotation. KD shouldn’t be playing as many minutes next year

Trade them for Giannis if you really wanna say f*ck it but I’d trade them three for a real point guard

We do have to make some roster decisions. I'm 100% fine with whoever is traded if it truly makes us better, just don't want Giannis as he is Westbrook 2.0, like buying a Cadillac past 100k miles, no thank you. Ime however, cannot coach offense to save his life, we need a 2-way coach as well.

He needs to do a euro rip through like harden/shai when he drives too.

guys, we're a top five team in the league, after replacing three starters from last year's team (including Fred) and missing a key rotation piece (Steve-A). the absence of FVV and Adams caused them to have to totally change they way they wanted to play, not just once, but twice.

    and still top five.

    are we perfect? no.

    but we'll be fine.

They went BPA for several years, and expected to have built a contender. That just does not happen w drafting most of your roster and thinking all of the pieces will fit. You have to learn to trade early and find value, the FO has been playing scared because they do not have actual skills and they will be exposed for it.

Not Amen. He can’t even develop a 2 point shot. I’m a huge Amen fan, but he shoots worse than Westbrook.

fine? A first round exit isn't "fine." But you're right, these injuries knee capped us before the season got going.

This article is pretty much all of my posts in a nutshell. The Amen-Igoudala comparison is one I've made many times, and our preference for big wings over "pass/dribble/shoot guys" is our greatest weakness and my biggest frustration.

None of our draft picks can be the best or even the second best player on a championship team. But they are good enough to prevent us from tanking. So we get to be, what, the Chicago Bulls of the West?

Going all-in by trading Sengun and picks for Giannis alone might not make us the favorite in the West, but it would at least make things spicy plus put a cap on this era when his extension runs out. The Harden teams never reached the finals, but it was a lot of fun to watch them try. What we have now is just miserable.
