One of the most embarrassing moments in American diplomacy. Begging for a ceasefire from a authoritarian regime

    LMAO

That is one of the most BS idiotic answers Trump has given yet. You are right, and it would take one of the dumbest guys you've ever met to hear his response and believe it.

This WSJ article is something. It seems Trump wants the US government to sell insurance--no, reinsurance--wait, make that reinsurance to some tankers but not others--to cover ships going through the Strait.

Typical of Trump to fire off a post about something without having the faintest idea of how it works and it is no surprise that he would stock his administration with people who didn't know either.

Of course, when you have a government run by billionaires, they tend to miss the whole "people" problem because they don't think of any non-wealthy elites as mattering at all:

I guess this reinsurance also buys you an escort by the US Navy...

    https://www.wsj.com/finance/u-s-pla...6?st=qv7yiK&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink

Most incompetent and corrupt administration ever. And it's not close at all.

(By the way, Bluesky has a Gift Link feed that scoops up all the national-level gift articles being posted on the site. It's worth opening an account just for that.)

Hey, everybody, Trump doesn’t know anything about the tomahawk that struck the girl’s school after claiming before it wasn’t us. Now, it must be some other country as a lot of countries have the same type missile.. Except, you and Israel attacked Iran to start the war . No one else fired anything then. Trump will do ANYTHING to avoid responsibility! He thinks all Americans are just gullible and stupid. What a stand-up guy!

Trump dispatched a son-in-law and a real estate broker with no nuclear expertise into the most complex diplomacy on earth, gave them three weeks to solve what took years, and when they failed by their own admission, chose bombs over patience and dragged America into yet another Middle East war.

Veteran foreign policy journalist Laura Rozen:

Was diplomacy with Iran really doomed to fail?

the Witkoff-Jared Kushner incompetence is a big deal, but it ultimately doesn’t matter IMO because Israel wanted to go to war with Iran, and that meant we were gonna go to war as well

there is nothing Iran could’ve done or said

Netanyahu wanted this, and had wanted it for 40 years…this regime is the one he had enough control and blackmail over to get the United States do it with him

we were going to war with Iran no matter what

Unfortunately Trump had Patel fire the guys who were tracking those cells just days before the war began.

Kash Patel gutted FBI counterintelligence team tasked with tracking Iranian threats days before US strikes, sources say

    https://www.cnn.com/2026/03/03/politics/patel-fbi-national-security-division-firings-iran

Just days before the United States launched a major military operation in Iran, FBI Director Kash Patel fired a dozen agents and staff members from a counterintelligence unit tasked with monitoring threats from Iran, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

They were ousted for a simple reason: Each was involved in the investigation of President Donald Trump’s retention of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate.

I did not take it that he was discussing bombing reformists, I took what he said to be that he was talking about eliminating the current regime under the Ayatollah. I also could be wrong as I only listened to the short clip.

Well at least the Pentagon is admitting the truth. I have no expectations of Trump ever admitting the truth about anything.

Trump team 'frantically' trying to avoid admitting they’re 'a bunch of morons': expert

An international policy expert says it’s no longer a matter of which direction President Donald Trump plans to take his self-started Middle Eastern war — it’s about a president desperately trying to hide the truth of his stupidity.

“… [E]ven the war supporters are realizing that this was a horrible idea,” Duss told Wajahat Ali on Ali’s “Left Hook” podcast. “And I think this is a particularly dangerous moment because now they're frantically trying to find ways not to have to admit that they're a bunch of morons, which means that they're going to argue for escalation. There's no other option.”

“I mean, the other option is admitting that they were wrong. And as we know, that is something that does not happen when you're a Washington war hawk who loves war. The only answer is more war. If the war didn't work, it's because we didn't war hard enough,” said Duss, who served as president of the Foundation for Middle East Peace and later as foreign policy advisor to Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt) before becoming executive vice president of the Center for International Policy.

Ali pointed out that “no administration in recent history was dumb enough to strike Iran despite Netanyahu’s perpetual whining, bullying, and bulls—— claims … before Trump,” and now Trump is clearly getting nervous, according to a Monday press conference.

It’s the kind of self-doubt that comes of “being dog-walked” into “an illegal war without an exit plan,” Ali said.

“I don't know if you saw his bizarre, rambling, dementia-fest — no offense to people with dementia — but he literally doesn't make sense,” said Ali. “He contradicted himself yesterday, Matt, repeatedly. He says the war is ‘almost over.’ We accomplished everything. But then again, [he says] ‘I don't know. We probably need to go a bit longer.’ So, I'm like, just choose one, man. Pick one lane!”

“He clearly is a little bit nervous,” agreed Duss. “We saw him starting to prep a kind of blame story about, ‘well, Steve and Jared and Marco and Pete, they all told me that they were about to attack.’ [But] I don't take comfort in that. I don't think he's really ready to exit this. But if he does decide that he needs to pull the plug on this, it would be because he's losing money and too many rich Americans are losing money.”

Trump did not get the memo.

Trump did get the memo (aka Presidential Daily Brief), but there were too words for his very small brain to understand.

The real failure is that Trump's handlers should have create a smaller briefing ... with more pictures and less words ... and perhaps the phrase "despite your overly large brain, your less gifted flunkees failed to properly inform you that ..."

For decades, Netanyahu wanted to go to war with Iran, but wouldn't because the US, wisely, under much more competent leadership, said hell no. Israel would not go to a full war with Iran on their own; they needed the US to also enter the war.

What changed is that Trump decided to enter the war, and Witkoff and Kushner are a big part of that failure. They went into high-stakes nuclear negotiations without bringing a single nuclear or Iran expert, misunderstood basic facts about Iranian nuclear capabilities that have been public knowledge since the 1980s, mischaracterized what Iranian negotiators actually said, and then declared diplomacy dead after just a few weeks. Their ignorance and refusal to use qualified experts helped push the US into a war that more competent leadership had wisely avoided for decades.

To be fair, it is possible that none of this mattered and Trump was always going to war regardless of how the negotiations went. But that is pure speculation, and if true, makes the entire diplomatic exercise even more cynical.

It can be a war crime - but it is hardly new and is common in war. The Allies in WWII attempted to kill all of the leaders in Nazi Germany. The USA went through the pecking order in Iraq Al Quida and went down the list trying to kill all of the leaders. The difference now is that with drones and remote weaponing, it is more possible. We also have seen it with Israel targeting Hezbollah and other groups.

I personally would not have worded it the way Fetterman did, but I don't think what he said is all that outrageous as it is something that happens at war - especially with remote means to assassinate and target.

War is war. If Donald Trump and his neutered Congress want war, it isn't something to be taken lightly, it isn't a weekend excursion and it isn't something to be half committed to - or you don't do it. The lives of people are at risk; civilians are going to die - there are economic consequences and social and political consequences. This isn't something to do as a distraction - and I suspect that Republicans are about to find that out.

I don't support the regime in Iran - but I also do not support intervening either.
