Every game that passes brings my hopes lower and lower that we will even win a round in the playoffs. Even after wins against the crappy teams. This team sucks. This rebuild is looking like a bust.
The question is at what cost. If all they had contract wise was DFS then they aren't getting any of the guys who were moved for 2nd round picks. You give a 1st and maybe you can't make that bigger move down the road - a move that actually moves the needle. And if we are being honest, none of the guys moved at the deadline were really going to move the needle. You might still have a first or second round exit with those players. That's not worth the assets it took to make the move in the first place.
In the beginning of his tenure, he mentioned something about not being able to fully assess him until like 7 years later. We are damn near at that point and we are no closer to a championship let alone the 2nd round than we were when he got in the driver seat. He's started and stopped this rebuild a few times already. He(Stone) makes you kind of miss Morey cause despite his mistakes(T-Rob, Royce White etc.) we had an MVP, a 60 win team, and he found gems like Scola, Brooks and Lowry. He also was forced to rebuild without tanking. The bar shouldn't be lowered for Stone. Crazy thing is Stone actually played ball, Morey does...ping pong.
I blame FVV. He's just too slow. He held back the offense last year. He's holding it back again this year.
People really forgot that Stone was Morey's assistant and understudy......he is probably more of a corporate lawyer.......a corporate presence..... He is just miscast, he does well doing all these type of contracts, overseeing things.....but what people don't get is.... Those are professionals in their fields and the strength of Stone was/still is contracts and supervising things, he is not your 'typical GM' either. Posters in here discussing as if he was a Top 15 GM for years (decade) while he has been bailed out by his assistants more often than not, well, typical guy who has been miscast. Hire people for what they are best at......and not because you can't find another guy.....
Corrosion is the same guy who defended Silas against me for years. Never wants change and always weakly accepts mediocrity. Ignore this poster!
If I remember correctly, he was actually here before Morey like in 05 or something. It's crazy cause I'm sure the alternative that Tilman is going to go with is not another NBA GM or someone like that, but rather one of his sons. It's crazy cause for as successful a businessman that he is, that is one of the earliest rules you learn, never doing business with family/friends. I want to believe the old saying of "you can only get better" applies to Stone. I initially liked his moves, even the Ime move initially was good because of setting "culture" and cutting out bad apples is necessary. Self-awareness and looking at the man in the mirror for your problems is always key. I don't think the org as whole wants to do that cause like many of us have posted, nobody wants to admit mistakes were made. I was out completely on him when he said, "This isn't our year" while in the playoff mix. I remember a team that was the 6th seed, defeated 4 50 win teams and swept the Magic in the finals. And, "We had non believers along the way". What does it matter if Ime sets a "culture" if one above him doesn't believe we can win? Dude said it publicly, imagine what he says in private.
Good observation and information, he is 5-6 months older than Morey, but they are about the same age.
