Even if the GM believes this, it’s such a dumb thing to say halfway into the year. The Celtics lost Tatum and dumped multiple key rotation players to save money. Imagine if the GM came out and said it’s not their year. Do you think the team would try their hardest? Such a dumb thing to say.
I think most successful players will tell you playoff experience, regardless of the round, means something. If we could put it all together before the end of the season and push for a semifinals appearance I'd call it a successful season. I don't think that'll happen, but its what I'm rooting for.
I’m in San Antonio for the first time in years and I strongly considered buying tickets when the Rockets came to San Antonio or making the drive to Houston. After Stone’s “maybe it’s not our year” comment I decided against it. If our GM doesn’t believe in the team HE put together, why should I? And of course the Rockets came to San Antonio and got taken behind the woodshed. Thankfully I didn’t waste my money or put extra miles on my vehicle.
Stone is just being realistic do you really think every team has a large chance to win a ring? We could still compete and went 15-5 without FVV but also losing Adams makes it almost impossible to win a ring this year. We havent been legit contenders since 2018 and you been here all this time but Stone saying it out loud made you quit. Mmmkay
Hell, we didn’t have much of a chance WITH Fred. I was surprised that he would say something like that publicly due to the effects it can have on the locker room and on Tilman’s bottom line. I figured he would at least give us his usual platitudes to save face but I guess reality really sunk in for him. It’s probably worse in Stone’s office than we realize.
If you think we didnt even have a chance to begin even when healthy with why are you even making this post blaming stone? So stone saying what you thought all along even with a healthy squad made you angry for some reason? lol wtf You never gave the team a shot to begin with but Stone saying this isnt our year after 2 critical injuries suddenly made you not buy tickets. lol
if this info is current... we got 2 2nds in 26 and 2 in 27.... Houston Rockets - Future Draft Picks | Fanspo
Thats what we have not what we owe. It hasnt been declared where those 2nds will come from. Look at the KD trade and see how many 2nds we need to pay up. Regardless, making some small move just for the sake does nothing for me. We still need to give up a player and most of the players available got cut for salary purposes.
Because it’s a classic mediocre GM move. You NEVER publicly express doubt in the competitiveness of your roster. Players, especially young players, see that. If anything, you give a platitude. To be fair, I think Stone would take that statement back if he could. I’m not angry with Stone, just disappointed. I thought he was smarter than that but I was wrong.
That wasnt what you said, you said you didnt buy tickets because Stone said it isnt our year. Is Stone the reason you watch games? So if you are disappointed with Stone you wont buy tickets so you wont see him anymore? Why should you never express doubt in the competitiveness of your roster? Even Kerr said they werent what they once was. Its called being realistic. Rockets have never been contenders, even last year they werent contenders. So Stone saying they also arent contenders is nothing new. Its been this way since 2018. The difference is this year the reason we arent contenders is due to injury, hence "this isnt our year" comment. As always Stone haters here take everything negatively abd blow it out of proportion.
i dont think so bro... thats an inclusive list of all of our future assets... the kd picks are already pulled out... we got 4 tradeable 2nd rd picks in the next 2 years - with a lil mystery about where they may fall...
I expanded on my thoughts from the initial post so of course I haven’t said that before lol. Stone isn’t Kerr and we aren’t the Warriors. Stone also drafted or signed for the majority of the young players on this roster. They are supposed to still be developing (in theory). That was the first time I’ve ever heard him publicly depart from that. Stone did a much better job fielding the Jalen Green data question in the offseason. I’m not a big fan of Stone but he's not the worst GM in the NBA. However, like I said earlier, I thought he was smarter than that.
what buyout market? Who out there can help? Certainly not Lonzo Ball. Stone addressed this in a press conference post trade deadline. He said it in jest and he was talking about the unfortunate injuries we’ve had. He also said he thinks the Rockets have been really good and can play their best ball in the second half of the season and that he expects all players to grow. He also said Fertita is willing to spend money and do what it takes to win. Them not making a trade leads me to think they didn’t want to give up much for a mid season trade and it also gives me indication they may be looking at a possible big trade in the summer. I really believe they will assess after this season and we will see some big changes.
It isn't just that, I do not see the same passion for bball in him..... His passion is probably an individual named Felicia at home.
Throw all the negativity aside we have a top three unprotected Brooklyn pick in this upcoming very strong draft in a few months. Keep hope as Stone has everything under control!!!
